Let God alone affect how you feel

November 25, 2015 | 9 comments

So here’s an assignment for you today that will have a profoundly good effect on your state of mind and health—only let God affect how you feel, about everything!

How often do you attribute effect to someone or something other than God and then suffer?

Perhaps you believe an action by a co-worker or family member is causing you grief? Maybe you’re upset about another person’s opinion, or fear a disease, a germ or a virus? Are you concerned about not enough funds on hand? Or maybe the weather is dreary and you feel dreary too? The list of so-called material cause and effect could go on and on.

But today, you can change all that.

You can exercise your spiritual dominion and authority to live only under God’s influence. You can make a conscious decision to consult God first about everything, and let God form your thoughts about every situation and person you face.

You don’t have to suffer. You don’t have to feel helpless. You don’t have to play the role of a duped victim.

You can master any situation with a spiritual understanding that what God knows and decrees is the final determining factor.

Mary Baker Eddy wrote,

“Mind is the master of the corporeal senses, and can conquer sickness, sin, and death. Exercise this God-given authority. Take possession of your body, and govern its feeling and action. Rise in the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good. God has made man capable of this, and nothing can vitiate the ability and power divinely bestowed on man” Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 393.

“Take possession of your body,” means to take possession of your thought concerning the body; and this rules applies to the physical body, the family body, the workplace body, the community body, to any and every kind of body you can imagine.

The body doesn’t govern us. Mind governs the body. And God is the one Mind that always knows best. Listen to the one Mind and live free!

  1. thank you for this lovely reminder about what we can do to help our selves!!
I am trying to print it off to share with someone who doesn’t have a computer to send it to,
It won’t let me delete the picture today and in fact it took the whole picture from underneath and printed 1/2 of the page over all the colored picture under it too. I am sorry for it’s such a good one for sharing and reminding myself about too!! Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!

  2. Faye, have you tried copying and pasting it to an email and then printing that? That might work for you.
Thank you Evan, as always, your blogs are so helpful. I , too, wish you and your family and everyone who comes to this fountain of ideas, a wonderful Thanksgiving. We all have so much to be grateful for

  3. Thanks Evan for this wonderful guidance of allowing our thoughts to be affected by only what God knows about us. So often we feel let down, humiliated and hurt when confronted with bad behaviour or comments, when the right thing to do would be, to exercise our spiritual dominion and authority to live only under God’s influence. Then alone, we can master any situation with a spiritual understanding that what God knows and decrees is the final determining factor. God knows us as pure, perfect – His beloved sons and daughters, in whom He is well pleased. So we rejoice in what God knows about us, no matter what others comment or feel about us. This was a great uplift. Many thanks.

On this thanksgiving day, I am do deeply grateful to you Evan, for daily uplifting our thoughts and bringing more joy, inspiration, harmony and health in our experience. God bless you and yours, abundantly, always.

  4. Yes, divine Love is beautiful in the countless way(s) it shines through us all!

With ever-renewed desire to be grateful, to let this Love shine in me and to
see it (and nothing else!) in others,

    Sue

  5. Have you ever thought of the accepted religions of today as starting out as Cults. Well they did according to an excellent x-posa of a recent American History program on cable TV entitled; “THE HISTORY OF CULTS” bringing out the fact that The Roman Civilization of Jesus’s time viewed all religions as Cults except their own. Only a few were accepted as mainstream; JUDISM-CATHOLIC-PROTESTANT-MUSLIM and HINDISM to name only a few. They weren’t first with God but with those humans picked by humans to be spokesmen for God which doesn’t follow the 1st commandment; “No other God but me.”
