Happy Mother’s Day

May 12, 2017 | 15 comments

Mother’s Day is being celebrated in the USA this Sunday. It’s a time to honor our mothers and all the sacrifices, prayers and efforts they put into caring for us and into helping us find our way.

A caring mother is a priceless gift, beyond words. It’s a gift of God.

MOTHER

Mother is a name held sacred
By most mortals of the earth;
It means great love and sacrifice
From the very day of birth,
A love that’s so full of beauty,
So tender, so very true!
Something, seemingly, from Heaven
That has come to me and you.
There’s no love so understanding
And so faithful to the end
As a Mother’s love—God bless her!—
That to us our Lord did send.

~ Gertrude Tooley Buckingham

“Let your father and your mother be glad, And let her who bore you rejoice.”

~ Proverbs 23:25, NKJV

  1. That is so true. I have never known such love as my mother gave me. I Thank God for it.
However the Love which God gives us is beyond compare.
I have found this during fiery trials.
“Like as a mother, God comforteth His children ” hymn 174. Christian Science Hymnal.

  2. Mother (God) is reflected in mother!

I hereby (and hope to each day!) honor the wonderful mothering qualities in all of us,
male-and-female. How essential these qualities are! Thank you to everyone making tefforts to put self aside to express Mother-Love, in every way possible.

    I love you, SpiritView Family!

    :-)))

  3. Thanks, Evan. My mother was a great gift to me. My children have each been special gifts to me, and I thank God for giving them to me. Praise God, the Great Father-Mother of us all!

  4. Thank you Evan.
Over many years I have received that lovely Mothering Love from many people, friends, practitioners, relatives, my husband to name a few.
I hope that I have been the same for them and continue to express Mother-Love in all I do.

  5. I have benefited as much as my family from learning to be a loving mother. I have no animosity toward my own mother who did so many good things though her heart was clearly not into motherhood. My family tell me I am nothing like her. Some of us learn at a job, some us learn the bulk of it in a marriage and as a parent. Happy Mother’s Day!

  6. Motherhood, as Fatherhood are so vitally important to realize as truly spiritual.

I feel that man & woman need to realize and put into practice the concept of possessing
both masculine and feminine, Father-Mother attributes gained from knowing our Father-Mother God. Both for parenting and a sense of individual “completeness” in knowing the REAL man of God’s creating. This is conscious living in my Father’s House which is completely furnished.

Such things as masculine strength more gentle, logical thinking more flexible, soul-sense more
principled, righteousness more humble & meek, our self-sacrifice more self-respecting,
feminine intuitiveness more compassionate, humility more silently powerful, and our love
becoming more selfless. Really something to consider.

  7. I had a wonderful Mother, and I thank God for her love, understanding, wisdom and support every day of my life!

  8. Thank you Evan for this tribute to mothers.
My mother passed on while I was still a rebellious adolescent. I never appreciated what a wonderful, caring and patient woman she was until I was an adult. Having been abandoned by my dad and left to support my sister and me (men weren’t held accountable for supporting their children in those days) she made each day and adventure.
Although times were sometimes difficult she expressed so many God like qualities, joy, wisdom, intelligence, demonstration of supply. We never felt the shortness of food or anything else. It was presented as a big adventure.
I thank God for this wonderful woman, my mother.

  9. My Mother said once to me: we are your friends – oh I found that very good.

Since my mother is gone some years ago, I know that God is our all supreme, gentle, loving, everything understanding Mother, also of my mother – and I think she knew that, too.

As I heard, the Germans have taken over this habit of celebrating mothers day from the USA, thats very interesting.

Thank you Evan for reminding me to be grateful for my mother and for all good she has done for me and my sister.

By the way, the Daily Lift from The Motherchurch has the same subject today but more about our spiritual Mother.

I also would tune in to Sally`s comment, and of course I thank you all for your very interesing comments, dear SpiritView-Friends 🙂

  10. I have always loved how Mary Baker Eddy has shown us the mothering essence of God/Love.
    Thanks Evan. Love to all.

  11. Thanks for the lovely tribute to mothers, Evan and all those who commented.
By the way, we also celebrate Mother’s Day in Canada, same day as the USA.
I am grateful for the love of my mother and grandmothers,
and now for the mother qualities of the younger moms in my extended family.
    God bless them all.

  12. Mothers, turn to God .You can love God so
    much more deeply than
    human man.

    God is always
    With you

    Always love’s and
    protects you

    Never hurts or confuses

    Will never abandon

    In God you can trust
    completely

    You can give yourself
    completely to Him
    without fear
    for he will never leave
    you

    Mothers, love God with
    all your heart
    with all your soul
    with every fiber
    of your being

    You are safe
    peace is present

    having this Love for
    God,
having discovered the greatest Love of all,

    you may, by God’s Will,
    find this reflection
    with a man, spouse, friend,
    who is of like Mind.

    Mothers, your true love
    is God……..
