Terrorism is not a new norm

With the frequent outbreaks of terrorism around the world, there may be a tendency to believe that terrorism is a new norm for society to expect and live with. I rebel at this suggestion!

Terrorism is wrong. It’s evil. It is not right. And because it’s not right, it can be corrected.

What is going to be required of humanity in terms of moral and spiritual reformation to correct this error, time will tell. But it’s important that we actively engage now with its dissolution so that it isn’t allowed to grow.

“Human hate has no legitimate mandate and no kingdom,” Mary Baker Eddy wrote
(Science and Health, p. 454). This is a demonstrable truth. “Love is enthroned,” she continued.

Terrorism would prey upon fear and ignorance. But understanding the might and power of divine Love to establish order, harmony and peace, dissolves fear, inspires discerning action, and takes the target of terrorism away.

Whether we live close to a terrorism hotspot, or far away, our prayers help all the same. What we know to be spiritually true where we stand, is true for everyone wherever they stand. Truth and Love are all encompassing.

So, don’t let mortal mind put your thought into an apathetic feeling of helplessness that accepts terrorism as inevitable. Resist it mightily for your benefit and your neighbor’s. It’s not normal. It’s not acceptable, and it can be overcome with Truth and Love.

  1. Pow! Let us join together with you to rebel at this suggestion, resisting it mightily for our neighbor’s benefit as well as our own! Thanks for the unwavering clarity and call to action! A perfect prayer for the start of each new day!

  2. Thank you Evan! Especially for alerting us to the fact that we can all ‘take up arms’ and pray about this issue wherever we are in the world. All our prayers make a difference!

  3. Thank you! Repetition of evil reports do argue helplessness (and apathy). Thank you for this wake up call!! Mary Baker Eddy tells us that, metaphorically, evil only asks to be let alone (ignored).

Yesterday I spent time with Psalm 40:10:

“I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.”

Thank you, Evan, for declaring God’s truth and calling on us to do the same for “the great congregation” of humanity.

  4. Yes! Perfect. To denounce anything that would try to destroy what we believe to be our God ~ Life, Mind, Soul, Spirit, Principle, Truth and most of all Love, rather than accept it, under the guise of religion or as something that would further an ideology. This type of understanding and prayers is so needed in the world today for all mankind to live in peace and harmony. What a great topic this morning. Thank you Evan.

  5. Blessings you Evan for this inspiration and reminder to be ever alert for anything not from God. Peace and goodwill to all today.

  6. The spiritual solution is the only real solution to this evil thought that opposes the peace and harmony of God’s creation. All that is unlike God’s creation has no foundation and therefore no place in God’s kingdom. Divine Mind holding the Principle of Divine Love is the Truth of Life experienced through Spirit the Soul of Man. Therefore there can be no power opposed to God, because there is no second power. There is only one God with his infinite individual expression.

  7. Thank you so much Evan…its good to be reminded of this and each day actively pray for Love’s control over the whole world

  8. Thank you Evan for this Spiritview and the call to arms! I can’t help but think of when Jesus was tempted in the desert and what his response was. He had neither fear or ignorance when combatting this temptation. He knew who he was and that he was loved. There was nothing to fear and he manifested so much wisdom!

Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

    8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Terrorism is based on lack. It is based on the lie that these terrorists will go to some heaven because of casting themselves down. Heaven is here and they are our brothers and sisters and are as loved by God as we are right now – not at some future time, not because of some event. They have no lack in qualities, wisdom or Love. Evan, I loved a statement you said several Spiritview posts back about not being a sucker for evil/mortal mind. We can all listen to God’s wisdom so we can overcome these lies. God/Love is the only power. Lack is not a power, it is a lie. When we realize who we are, we can feel no sense of lack, no need to cast ourselves down or hurt our neighbors to bring attention to ourselves. We are complete already.

  9. Thank you very much for these thoughts on terrorism.
There are also some very helpful articles on JSH online by Mr Brian Kissock, who had to deal with this problem whilst living in Northern Ireland.

  10. We should put on the “whole armor of God” and “bring every thought into the obedience of Christ” (not exact quotes). As we love all of our neighbors, love is reflected Love and this can protect us all.

  11. Thank you Evan for this timely and needed rally call!

Loved these gems from today’s blog:

“takes the target of terrorism away” and “What we know to be spiritually true where we stand, is true for everyone wherever they stand.”

I pray often in relation to this subject with the Bible verse from Matthew 10:26 “Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid that shall not be known.” The perpetrators can not secretly plan terrorist attacks without being discovered, uncovered and known!
