When the children of Israel were led by Moses out of slavery to Pharaoh in Egypt, they faced many obstacles that threatened to end their trip to the Promised Land.
At one point, they were stopped by the Red Sea, a vast impassable body of water. With Pharaoh and his massive army bearing down behind them intent on capturing them and bringing them back into slavery, the outlook was terrorizing.
The spiritually minded Moses assured his followers, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today” Ex. 14:13, NLT. But this response was not good enough for God. God upbraided Moses a bit with the reply, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving!” Ex. 14:15, NLT.
I love this response!
God told the people “to get moving!”
God was not impressed by the Red Sea.
When Moses was obedient to get moving, he found himself empowered with the ability to part the waters and move his people forward. And they did, safely out of Pharaoh’s reach.
The same command comes to us if we ever feel stuck, helpless or hopeless. God is present telling us “to get moving!” When we are obedient, the trouble before us will move out of the way.
God is bigger than any Red Sea we ever face. God knows no obstacles. He only sees open paths forward.
As we put on the Mind of God and let God do our thinking, we’ll see those open paths too. The trouble before us will part, and we’ll know what to do for the best results.
So, what are you waiting for? It’s time to get moving.
