Where are you headed with your life? It’s important to know.
PERFECT! Thank you
When I awoke this morning, MBE’s quote came to my thought “The right way wins the right of way, even the way of Truth and Love whereby all our debts are paid, mankind blessed, and God glorified.” MY 232: 6
I wish to do only good, so when my son called for a ride to work before 6 am, my prayer is to know the Truth above, knowing that I am heading on a safe trip before dawn, surrounded by the Love from God and so are all the other drivers on the road in the dark of early dawn. This helped me yesterday when I drove on the two lane surface road en-route, instead of the freeway which parallels the frontage road. This morning, I feel following the freeway is where I am being led.
Fair winds and following seas is what the Navy always wishes to bless it’s sailors. God bless us all.
I have to laugh. I read the title quickly and said what I used to say to kids when we spoke about ‘purpose’. I used to say What’s your porpoise? the harbor idea fit right in. but the quote is spot on. I appreciate the alertness required. thanks.
Thank you very much Evan!
For me it is clear – to understand God more and more, to reflect God more and more, to glorify God in everthing we do; and we do everthing in God, with God and for God.
We are all the blessed children of God with all the seven wonderful spiritual synonyms, we learn in Christian Science – am very grateful for it!
I’ve often felt I don’t know where I’m going in my life. I know that’s based on my mortal experience. I’ve prayed to be let where to go, what to do, etc., and when I listen and obey, I know good things will happen. It’s hard though to just trust, I’d like things to be outlined more!
One great quote a practitioner shared with me when I was bemoaning not knowing what to work for in the future is: “If divine Love is becoming nearer, dearer, and more real to us, matter is then submitting to Spirit.” SH 239:18-20 (From Concord Express – A Christian Science Study Resource: The King James Version of the Bible and Mary Baker Eddy’s published writings)
So the REAL goal is just that: making “divine Love …nearer, dearer, and more real….”
Now THAT’S a worthy harbor!
I have always loved hymn # 82
I have always loved hymn # 82
“GOD IS WORKING HIS PURPOSE OUT”
Peaceful seas are here for all when we know the truth, let go of our fearful thoughts, and let God guide our way to shore.
It made me think of Mrs Eddy’s words in Science and Health:
p8 We should examine ourselves and learn what is the affection and purpose of the heart, for in this way only can we learn what we honestly are.” Also (p 326), “The purpose and motive to live aright can be gained now. …Working and praying with true motives, your Father will open the way.”
I declare daily that my purpose is to fulfill God’s will, to bear witness to what He is, to glorify Him, and to manifest His qualities. This thought comes from “OUR DAILY IDENTIFICATION WORK” by Arthur P. Wuth, Journal 1978.
Hi dear commentator friends,
could anybody give us the complete link to this Journal article – would be thankful! 🙂
I no longer accept
the dreams as
trying to touch
The great I Am
Itself, making all
As they always were
thru storm and tide
with nothing to hide…
Clear as the sunrise
Reflecting morning dew…
Clear as the deepest
feeling, of being alive…
Clear as seeing
the Christ with
Clear as knowing
we never die…
Thanks Evan for the needed reminder…”Where are you headed with your life? It’s important to know.” It’s good to think deeply about. Thanks for the comments too and Maximo’s poem, the quotes and Journal article mentioned. (=
Hymn 58, verse 3, always comes to mind when I think about “purpose.” It says, “In Thy house securely dwelling, Where Thy children iive to bless, Seeing only Thy creation, We can share Thy
happiness, Share Thy joy and spend it freely. Loyal hearts can feel no fear; We Thy children know Thee, Father, Love and Life forever near.” Whatever I do during the day, my purpose is to bless. If I find my thoughts dwelling in anxiousness, fear, sadness, I know that thinking outwardly to bless others will annihilate those thoughts. That’s been a very special hymn throughout my life. Thanks to all!
Uta, I don’t know how to give you the link. I went to JSH Online and found the article. It referenced: “The Christian Science Journal Issues 1978 February Volume 96 Issue 2 Article” I hope this is helpful. It may also be available on Christianscience.com/Journal. Then search by author “Arthur P. Wuth”. This article also has another statement which I’ve used frequently “Because I am God centered I am always in my right place.”
Dear Mrs Eddy helps us to pursue the divine purpose when she writes in Hymn Number 254, last verse :
“My prayer, some daily good to do
To Thine, for Thee;
An offering pure of Love, whereto
God leadeth me.

Hi Lori and Soaring Dove,
thank you very much indeed to help me to get this article! 🙂
But you know, it is always the same. If I did not subscribe to the Journal I cannot get the whole article from JSH online. I only subscribed to the German Herald and buy from time to time a Journal or Sentinel in our reading room.
Here it is one o`clock am meanwhile – have you a very nice afternoon and evening.
And thank you all for your excellent comments – Love them all!
I hope this works, dear Uta.
Yes dear Béatrice, thanks a lot, that works perfectly!
You can also read the article by clicking on the blue https just shared and once you get to the site typing in the title of the article in their search engine (Our daily identification work)
