I have so much to do that I shall spend the first three hours in prayer.

  1. yes. begin rightly as is said. It was suggested to me many years ago to take God breaks during the day. I close my eyes, take a deep breath, and focus on my favorite, inspiring scripture, or only God IS.Just have to remember to do it!
No one even notices. a solo ride in an elevator is a great place.

  2. A short message Evan but very meaningful and a great reminder. I have occasionally heard people say that it’s ridiculous that Muslims pray several times a day , but then I realized that many Christian Scientists do also! because we pray about everything dont we? Just that we don’t have to go to a particular place top hear God.

  3. This quote reminds me of something I heard about the Dalai Lama. When his aides were planning an upcoming trip he asked them to remember to schedule in his one hour of daily morning meditation. They advised that on certain days he was going to be too busy to allow for the full hour of meditation He replied that, in that case, on those days please schedule 2 hours.

Another version of the Martin Luther quote: “If I fail to spend two hours in prayer each morning, the devil gets the victory through the day. I have so much business, I cannot go without spending three hours daily in prayer.”

So important to Start with God, Stay with God, Stand with God, Stick with God and end with God. Blessed day to everyone.

  4. We are all a living prayer. What makes it so? Considering all the lessons that we have learned in determining how to think of each and every action while living the day.
This morning on our neighborhood sharing site there’s listed a missing person. A termed “autistic” young man. How to think about this event? Knowing that all God’s children at all times are in his tender loving care. What further steps should one take? Isaiah 40:1 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people sayeth the Lord.” Reaching out to bless those people and giving them reassurance.
Every event is an opportunity to know and demonstrate our ability to bless. Therefore we are always living a prayer. Not for an hour, not for a day, but always prayerful. Always with our dear God and our link with Him, the forever Christ. Twenty-four-seven. Live the prayer.

  5. I often wonder when out and about if I’m the only one praying……but it doesn’t seem so after reading these most sincere, heartfelt comments.

  6. We always Begin and End with God, The Alpha & Omega, which means we start our Day, our conscious communion and listening, aware that we ARE GOD IN ACTION. Getting our thought fixed – stay “all prayed up” – enables us to respond more effectively, correctly. I learned from Christian Scientists throughout my time finding Christian Science, that this means getting up maybe as early as 4 or 5 am, to ensure that they had given sufficient time to let their thought be truly God-centered. We are exploring Infinite Mind, after all, which Mrs. Eddy called “the work of eternity”! Thank you, Evan, and all ❤️

  7. Thanks to Evan and all.
The quote from Rose is an article in the Sentinel from Judith Hardy Olson, April 13, 2020.
If I were clever like Angie I would insert it.
    Love to all!

      1. Thanks Be’atrice and Jean for the link to that great and inspiring article.
Thanks Evan for this SpiritView; it makes me examine myself whether I pray and work enough spiritually. Mrs. Eddy says in one of her writings: “work, work, work, watch and pray” is the song of Christian Science. Very true!

  8. In Miscellaneous Writings page 133:22-28 Mrs,Eddy wrote, Three times a,day, I retire to seek the divine blessing on the sick and sorrowing, with my face turned toward the Jerusalem of Love and Truth, in silent prayer to the Father which “seeth in secret,” and with childlike confidence that He will reward openly. In the midst of depressing care and labor I turn constantly to divine Love fir guidance, and find rest.

  9. It is certainly true that things work out much better for untying God
First. Doing lesson this a.m. my neighbour phoned that her friend
Was coming to take my cleaned u garage garbage to the city dump for free. An unusual happening. So grateful for these expressions of our
daily care by our Heavenly Father.A senior appreciate s this help so
much. Will spend another hour during day, Evan and all grateful

  10. I read that Mary Baker Eddy suggest three hours a prayer daily , I’ve read so many books since taking class in 2019 I’m not sure where she says that now tho –
    Does anyone know ?

And like was said about the particular place I’m also learning theres not just one particular way to pray petitioning , listening , gratitude , expressing Love ❤️
and special prayers for our world issues every Friday at sunset for an hour

  11. In Barbara Vining’s article, “Understand, be firm and yield”, she writes: “that to Mrs. Eddy, God was the one and only tangible presence, with whom she mentally companioned moment by moment. And that explains the immediacy of the healings that came through her prayers.”

  12. Thank you for mentioning Martin Luther. I was going to refer to him in response to yesterday’s blog, but felt somewhat hesitant to do so.
Martin Luther was on trial for being a heretic. A death by fire sentence loomed large. But he refused to recant and instead said: “Here I stand. I can do no other. So help me God,”
There is also an anecdote about Luther “seeing” the devil sit by his beside at night. He responded to the devil’s urging with: “Oh, it’s you again.” Then he turned over and went back to sleep. All those hours of daily prayer were never a waste of time..
On a lighter note, he also said on another occasion: “I don’t want to go to heaven if I can’t laugh there.”
Years ago a student gave me a thick book referencing Luther’s Table Talks It is a source of inspiration along with his Bible translation into vernacular German So is Mary Baker Eddy’s beloved Science and Health an infinite fountain of strength and redemption.

  13. Thanks to those who have shared the link to the article, “Start, Stay, Stick and Stand with God” by Judith Hardy Olson. I have listened to it twice so far and shared it with my friends. It was just what I needed.
