For greater peace, improve your understanding of God

Most people don’t realize this truism, but everyone is living out their present understanding of God.

For instance, if a person understands that God is their Life, and that Life is eternal, they will have no fear of death. This understanding brings a profound peace within that no matter what threat the world may lob their way, it will never touch their Life with God. They see nothing to fear, and they do not fear.

The same rule applies to supply, relationships, purpose, and health.

The more one understands that all their supply originates in God and comes without bounds, the less they fear lack. They know there is no lack with God, and when faced with a human need, they know they can go to infinite Mind and find the wisdom, insight, inspiration or idea necessary to remedy the trouble at hand. This understanding of God’s ever-present supply brings great peace and allows answers to appear quicker.

The more one understands that all true love comes from God without limit, the less they fear a lack of love in their life. They do not look to people, persons and social situations for love, where they may or may not find it. They look directly to God and find infinite Love without end.

The more one understands that their #1 purpose in life is to glorify God and let God’s presence be known and felt in everything they do, the more they will be occupied with activities that have value for them. There is no aimlessness, lack of direction, or feeling of being lost. Life is filled with worth and meaning when lived with God leading the way.

Mary Baker Eddy wrote, “It is our ignorance of God, the divine Principle, which produces apparent discord, and the right understanding of Him restores harmony” Science and Health, p. 390.

If there is one thing you can do to improve your life experience the most, the quickest, and the best, it is to grow in your understanding of God as infinite good. The more good you see in God, the more good you’ll see and experience every day. It’s the way it is.

  1. Dear Evan, I have to pause during my very busy life to thank you unreservedly for your most helpful blogs, especially this one. It gives me immense encouragement to keep going and looking up in spite of sense testimony.
    Blessings. Ted.

  2. Wow Evan! This is so helpful, thank you so much for your uplifting thoughts, they will accompany me everywhere today! X

  3. Before Christian Science found me I loved and often sang this verse from the musical Godspell: “Day by day, day by day, O dear Lord three things I pray: to see Thee more clearly, love Thee more dearly and follow Thee more nearly…” but I didn’t really know God until Christian Science. I’m SO GRATEFUL for Mrs. Eddy’s understanding of God, especially the 7 synonyms she provides in Science and Health and for her sharing her understanding to help us. I still have the longing to know God more and overcome all the fears that try to convince us we are separate from God/Good; but Christian Science has given me so many resources to do this. Thank you dear Evan for this OUTSTANDING post. It’s so very helpful. Now I have a multitude of angel thoughts (and Christian Science hymns) “my heart is singing, ‘I have found the Way….”

    1. Thank you Karen,
I replied on yesterday`s blog – printed it out already – your link works perfectly!

  4. Sometimes you read certain writings and gloss over them on your way to something more specific for your need at that moment. I have read Mary Baker Eddy’s writing included in Evan’s article many times, but today, in this context, I feel that I has instantly transported me from where I was before reading it to where I need to be from this day forward. It’s one of those moments where you know you’ll never be able to go back to the old you. It’s so simple, but everything I needed to know to change direction was included in those words. It was just my time to hear them. Thank you Evan for your wonderful article.

  5. Thank you for your divine message today. I’ve posted on my wall beside my computer 🙂 Much appreciated.

  6. Thank you dear Evan for this special, wonderful Post today. I am working each day to understand God, good better and the rewards are GREAT. Much gratitude, caydee

  7. Thank you for this very helpful post. Especially concerning supply this reminded me of your lecture “Living in Abundance”. I can’t seem to find it via YouTube’s search bar but it’s the one at the very bottom of this page https://spiritview.net/video . Anyone who appreciates this post might want to rewatch it too.

  8. Thank you. The decisiveness of your message is a comfort. I had decided to stop looking at my situation and keep focusing more and more on my understanding of God. Both feet have to be in the one reality.

  9. Thank you very very much for another great and important SpiritView, dear Evan!

With regard to your last passage, have the desire to love and understand God more and more as the infinite good. It`s natural that, if God is the infinite good, everything in the world is only good, as God`s law of infinite goodness governs the whole world, His world, the spiritual world, the only world there is actually in which we live and move and have our being.

Oh, how grateful am I that I can learn that Truth in Christian Science!

Thank you commenter family for your inspired comments! 🙂

  10. I love this because having been blessed by Christ Science since I was a little girl, I think I have always loved the thought of “eternal Life” and the more I learn the more I trust God and the less I fear all things that a. m. has to offer.

In an article by Grace Channell Wasson, published in The Hearld of Christian Science, October, 1976, French Edition, She writes: “The Practitioner (or anyone) Who works persistently to purifier his own thought in obedience to Mrs. Eddy’s instructions can prove that nothing, not even his own fears or doubts, can stop the effectiveness of a Christian Science treatment. The truth declared in treatment is the Word of God, and His Word goes forward with power and fruition. Truth necessarily enforces itself.

All anyone needs to become deeply acquainted with God and know that with Him all things are possible. We do not need to be convinced that we are personally capable, But simply to do our work honestly and trust the power of Truth.”

I so appreciate you Evan and the wonderful work you do and for your sharing with all on your Web. And all the beautiful sharing by those that respond to your generous gifts.
