Wisdom better than position

January 9, 2025 | 16 comments

If you’re ever tempted to think that you are insignificant because you hold an invisible position at work or aren’t written up on the front page of whatever publicizes the field of work you do, take heart.  Your significance is not a matter of what other people know about you, or who knows about you.  It’s about the wisdom you live and act on.

Take note of the “poor wise man,” in this story from the Bible:

There was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it: Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man.  Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength.

 ~Ecclesiastes 9:14–16

It’s not administrative position, worldly renown, or fame, that accomplishes grand works.  It’s wisdom.  There is as much wisdom flowing to you from divine Mind as to anyone else.

Wisdom is what solves problems, answers questions, and rescues from suffering.

Wisdom improves lives and saves communities.

Seek wisdom and live it abundantly.

Wisdom is what prospers you and everyone around you.

  1. Thank you Evan for this. Wisdom is so full of wonderful instructions and qulities, as
you have set out above. It achieves so much good.

I also like to ponder the following frequently:

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. (James 3:17, 18)

  2. Thank, Evan.

Places of position and power come with great responsibility, the saying goes. You can’t buy wisdom with money. It is a God-given quality that one must cultivate and cherish. Following our highest sense of what is right under any given circumstance is so important. But being humble and listening for God, Divine Minds direction is the best. ❤️

  3. When I was married, my mother gave me (yet another) a copy of the S&H. Inside the cover she wrote; “With all thy getting, get WISDOM”.
I have quoted her advice at both my Son’s weddings when I was asked to speak.

  4. Love this! Thank you! It reminded me I have a wonderful bookmark with the following quotation, “Know that wisdom is sweet to your soul; if you find it, you will find a future.” Proverbs 24:14

  5. I love these words of wisdom. Thank you!! Our wisdom comes from the One
and Only Mind and we each are blessed with equal quantities and qualities of
this wisdom – – – the Truth of our Being. It may Seem that others are more
learned or more adept at certain things than we are, but our God-given treasures
are of equal value and we Are significant to our Father-Mother God, our Creator
who made us perfect, loved and loving in all ways, missing nothing and filled
with wisdom. I am reminded of a quote a friend used to say, “If you think you are
too small to be effective, you have never been in the dark with a mosquito”. ……
and also, Margaret Meade’s quote comes to mind, “Never doubt that a small group
of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing
that ever has”. We are all significant.

  6. We have the God-given wisdom to see through any lies that error tries to dangle before us and tempt us with. Things may seem and feel discordant and dramatic at times, but the still small voice of Wisdom is there to gently direct us back to awareness of Harmony and Truth, ongoing and undisturbed.

  7. Thank you Rose, just the Truth you utter here so thoughtfully and lovingly is absolutely comforting for me, as I have to throw out erroneous thoughts trying to come in. Your comment helps me very much to overcome the falsity of the nearly fearful thoughts and lets the still small Voice of Wisdom direct me gently back to awareness of Harmony and Truth, ongoing and undisturbed!
Thank you deeply for it, dear Rose, its so calming and healing! ❤️

Thank you dear Evan for today’s SpiritView about Wisdom. A CS friend said to me once when I told her that I’m thankful God gives me wisdom, that o n l y. God is wisdom. So comforting, Evan that you give us the true idea, ..”that there is much wisdom flowing to you (me) from divind Mind as to anyone else. Wisdom improves lives and saves communities.”
Oh thank you, Evan, that makes me very happy and heals me from being sad. This SV is a real treatment
    and very powerful!!! ❤️

    1. Dear Uta and Fred, I am so very gratified to know that the comment I wrote was helpful to you. It means a lot to me to hear that. Lots of Love

      1. Yess, dear Rose, I’m really grateful for today’s so needed topic and your tender explanation that the love and wisdom of our Father-Mother God lead to nothingness of error and the allness of everpresent divine harmony.
Much Love to you, too and to all!

  8. This message reminds me of the Christ – Jesus, who was such a humble and modest
individual … going about his “Father’s” business and teaching and healing in God’s wisdom
and spirit. In saying, “Blessed are the meek”, I believe he was instructing us to be gentle,
to be compassionate, to love as he did.
In prayers for those in harm’s way of the wildfires in LA , who have lost loved ones and
homes … my heart goes out in helping to know where our True home is … where nothing
can take away our God-given Love and Peace. Our home, like church, is not a physical
structure, but is the structure of Truth and Love.
