Blessed are the pure in heart

December 11, 2024 | 51 comments

My Sunday school class of youngsters have been learning the Beatitudes in Jesus Christ’s Sermon on the Mount.  They decided to share one of those beatitudes with others through a video, which is what I have below to share with you.

In this video they tell why having a pure heart is important for seeing God, and how to keep the muck of the world from becoming muck in our heart.

Enjoy!

  1. That is so lovely – thank you Evan. We need that child-heart
always, innocent and receptive to all the good and pure
thoughts that God expresses in us, and nothing else.

  2. Wow, Evan, it’s so wonderful that those sweet kids do understand the beatitudes so well.
The reason, they have a gorgeous and loving teacher – Evan and the Christ –
Thank you for that innocence! Yes, we do need this pure innocence to reflect God! 🙂

  3. This really cute, Evan. And this list of things to keep out of our hearts is helpful. Thanks for this reminder.

  4. Thank you Evan for this very clear and graphic example of a pure heart being open to God’s true expression- so precious and unmistakable. ❤️

  5. Thank you Evan!
That was adorable and such a clear illustration of the beatitude! I am going to use it in Sunday school class.! What I have done in the past is keep a clear water bottle and a water bottle with dirt at the bottom. When you shake it the water becomes cloudy and mucky -bad thought obscuring our thinking. But after the water is allowed to be calm the dirt and debris float to the bottom and the water becomes clear again. They love it.

  6. I enjoyed that so much. I can’t wait for my wife to awake so I can show her this video,
So much love being expressed. And that love should be Love. Also looking forward
to sharing this with my granddaughter who has one child and a 2nd due in January.
    Thank you Evan.

  7. This video with the children is so sweet and the window illustration hits home !! ! Thank you Evan for all the reminders presented and worded in such profound and straightforward ways!

  8. Wow those children are so blessed to have you for their Sunday school teacher!!! They ready to be Christian Science lecturers. Please give them a hug for me and tell them good job.!!

  9. Such a great enactment of the Beatitude and done so simply with the darling children. The pure thought is what led Mary to see and understand the angel message that she would be the mother of Jesus. Thank you for sharing and I will share with our Sunday School too.

  10. Thank you Evan, did not realize that you are also a Sunday school teacher, how lovely. Those kids are adorable and the video is so creatively presented. Pure, simple ideas of Truth for us to ponder today. We all need some muck coming from “out there” (world thought) to be cleaned of our consciousness , good to be reminded.

  11. Awww … that is So Sweet, dear Evan!! What precious and endearing little ones
with a great message … So happy in their expressing their clear window demonstration
of a pure heart! Thank you so much for sharing that with us. You and their
parents are great teachers of Truth.

  12. Thank you for sharing this beautiful Beatitude with us. These children are obviously understanding of how important it is to understand what the Christ is and how important it is to learn what Jesus taught us. It’s so dear to hear them use their own words in sharing this with all of us.

  13. The purity, innocence and joy that these sweet little girls express is shown
so beautifully, like when Love is in our heart. It just shines through, like
through a clean window of thought. So darling is this presentation of
this Beatitude. Thank you, Evan – that was adorable!

  14. These girls will have wonderful memories and lessons from Sunday school that they will carry with them throughout their lives. Love the message and great job!

I came across a very informative website for Sunday school teachers and those new to Christian Science. It’s by Vicki Jones Cole, daughter of Christian Science Lecturer Dorothy Holder Jones:

    1. Thank you, J , for this lovely lecture and Thank you, Evan and sweet girls
for this adorable vlog. As with sometimes in the “Adam dream”, it might
seem like fun, like the girls were having playing in the mud (- LOL – not often
they would get a chance to do that) … but looking through the clean window
(spiritual thought), the true message of cleaning up the “muck” of matter,
radiates through, with their beaming, smiling faces. It was such a sweet
      message. Thank you!

    2. Thank you J for this link. It is helping me with a current challenge and I am most grateful to be able to access this excellent article.B.x

    1. Richard maybe try clicking the YouTube logo on the bottom right which will take you to this video on the YouTube site, perhaps it will work better for you there.

  16. Thank you Evan for this absolutely precious video!
Mary Baker Eddy says in Misc. Writings on page 110..”Beloved children, the world has need of you,- and more as children than as men and women: it needs your innocence, unselfishness, faithful affection, uncontaminated lives. You need also to watch and pray that you preserve these virtues unstained, and lose them not through contact with the world. What grander ambition is there than to maintain in yourselves what Jesus loved, and to know that your example, more than words, makes morals for mankind!”

  17. Oh, how this touched my heart. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed by some family concerns, and this sweet message helped lift off the heaviness and let in the light. So grateful, Evan, and all.

  18. Such purity and sweetness that has touched my heart. Thank you and your Sunday School students for this wonderful message!
