Gratitude is important

November 24, 2011 | 15 comments

It’s Thanksgiving Day in the United States.
I love this day. It reminds me to be extra grateful for all the blessings God has bestowed on my family, my community, my church, and on the world.
With daily headlines of economic strain and strife around the globe, budgets slashed hither and yon, and people struggling to find work, it can be tempting to think, “There is nothing to be grateful for.” But this is never true. There is always something to be grateful for, and it is crucial to success and prosperity that those blessings are remembered, recounted, acknowledged, and rejoiced over.
No matter how humble our social or economic status is, we can always find something to be grateful for.
As Mary Baker Eddy wrote, “Are we really grateful for the good already received? Then we shall avail ourselves of the blessings we have, and thus be fitted to receive more.”
And near the top of my gratitude list today is gratitude for you, my blog readers! It’s been a genuine privilege to share with you, benefit from your feedback, and grow together in life’s spiritual lessons.
Happy Thanksgiving!
