Make room for God

June 14, 2019 | 21 comments

When you’re deciding what to do with your time, be sure to make room for God!

God is the source of all good. To make room for God, is to make room for good things to happen. It’s to honor the source of that good and to keep one’s heart and mind wide open to receiving its blessings.

There isn’t any activity that is more important, more pressing, or more urgent, than to grow in one’s understanding of God and to put that understanding into practice.

The pursuit of money, fame, position, prestige and self-wants are not more important than the pursuit of God, for what comes from the world is lost and left behind in the dustbin of mortal mind. But what one gains from God sticks forever. It continues to have a multiplying and ever-growing impact on your experience. It’s blessings never cease.

The temptation to think, “I don’t have time for God,” vanishes when one realizes that having God is having everything worth having.

To have God is to have love, joy, comfort, peace, health, meaning, purpose, and life itself.

When you make room for God, you make room for the best things to happen in the best way.

Plan for success, and always make room for God!

  1. This reminds you that no matter how busy your work schedule, you can always find time to talk to God in some way, even if it’s just saying a prayer, listing the things you’re grateful for, or singing hymns/worship songs on your commute to work. Doing this will calm the craze and help everything throughout the day fall into its perfect order.

  2. And the more we make time for God, the more we find ourselves living in His Day, His eternal understanding where ‘Mind measures time according to the good that is unfolded’ (S&H p 584). I love the way today’s Spiritview moves us from time to room, from a pressurised sense of our day to a peaceful, expansive sense that God is governing always.

  3. What have we if we make no time for divine principle to appear in our experiences. We would truly lack then the bounty given to us through infinite ability of selfless divine love to act upon our lives as a guide of a Father-Mother nature, God.

  4. I have mentioned this before but my friend and I take God breaks throughout the day. We close our eyes, for less than a minute sometimes, and listen. Sometimes something inspirational we are pondering will be looked at. It greatly breaks the mesmerism.

    1. Love, love, LOVE this: taking God breaks throughout the day. Thank you for sharing a helpful way to proceed.
Rain fell gently, where I was yesterday, so I took a break, (not calling it a God break), to stop and sit outside on a public patio, soaking up the atmosphere of the good, gentle, moist rain, accompanied by a gentle breeze. The moment lingers.

  5. When we awaken to the idea that each day is God’s Day, we are surrounded by His kingdom–His protection and love– where there is an abundance of all good. In Science and Health on page 584 in the Glossary chapter, Mrs. Eddy shares these ideas about Day–
“Day. The irradiance of Life; light, the spiritual idea
of Truth and Love…. The objects of time and sense disappear
in the illumination of spiritual understanding, and Mind
measures time according to the good that is unfolded.
This unfolding is God’s day, and “there shall be no night
there.” God’s goodness overshadows any thoughts or suggestions of fear, illness, anxiety, confusion, and shows us that divine Mind, Principle and Love rule our day. Turning to these ideas purifies my thought of all the”static” of material sense, and assures me of our Father-Mother’s unconditional and everlasting love and harmony. We can draw on that source of goodness– God’s daily presence– in every action and thought throughout day and know it blesses everyone.

    1. I’m a Sue K in CA, too!

Perhaps it doesn’t matter at all, tho.
      Does it to you?

  6. It’s so true!! Seek God and all the other things will be added!!! Thanks Evan and all the other commenters.

  7. “Praise His name and Let it happen…..Let the Power of God become Alive in your Life…….Praise Jesus, Praise Jesus……sing Hallelujah….Hallelujah!”

“He’s turned my Mourning into Dancing again, He’s lifted my sorrow….I can’t stay quiet, I must Sing for my Lord has come!”

  8. “You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule.” Matt 5:3 (MSG)

    1. “…for what comes from the world is lost and left behind in the dustbin of mortal mind. But what one gains from God sticks forever.” 😉

  9. Wow, Evan! You really nailed it! Every moment of every day truly belongs to God–and by reflection, to us as Her dear children. Thank you! (I appreciated everyone’s comments, too.)

  10. Thanks, Evan, for your guidance for today and every day. And, to all who have commented. I’ve had a busy morning so far, but beginning with God, all the rest just fell in place.
    THANK YOU GOD!!!

  11. “One moment of divine consciousness, or the spiritual understanding of Life and Love [God], is a foretaste of eternity.”

We can begin to understand that all we really have “time” for is God! And this sense of time in our thought shifts into understanding of eternity with God. What a blessing! We aren’t constrained by time in eternity.

  12. Making room for God puts one in a happy place. I’ve recently made a lot more room for our Father/Mother God, but I intend to move out a lot more wrong thinking and welcome Him in full time.
    Thank you Evan
