SHINE concert

January 15, 2025 | 25 comments

Last October 19, 2024, my church hosted a concert celebrating 100 years of activity in our community.  I promised I would send you a link when a recording was available.  It was a fun and inspiring event for all involved.

Talented musicians that have sung and played at our services over the years participated, including Olin Ensley, Molly Holleran, Kelli Kruse, Ellen Fillion, and Evan Mehlenbacher, along with Grace Perez from our Sunday school who led the Grand Finale, “This little light of mine.”

Here’s a link to the event, SHINE.

  1. What an absolute delight..And SHINE IT DID…
Great example of the divine shining through human and bringing out the best!!

  2. What a delightful concert! Thank you to all involved. How magnificent snd precious the talent of each and every one. What fine performances by all! Evan, thank you for your gracious MCing and piano playing, and for sharing.

  3. A number of people commented about Daniel Jensen’s articles in yesterday‘s SV. He is one of my favorite speakers. For anyone who’s interested you can listen to several of his talks, including Starting Rightly, online. There are two posted on Christiansciencect.org in the human voice (not synthesized) section, including Starting Rightly. The other one posted there, Practical Wisdom, I think is also excellent. The Arden Wood site also has several of his talks that I think are great. That site is ardenwood.org. Although the format on that site is not as conducive to listening in my opinion. There are two options, one directly on the site, which does not allow you to pause and come back to pick up later if the playback has reset. The other option is the YouTube format, which is interrupted periodically with annoying ads. nevertheless, the talks are well worth listening to in my opinion.

  4. What a delight !

  6. Bravo! Bravo Evan! Wonderful playing of Brahms and Rach! What a treat to see and hear you play. I wish I could have been there in person. I’ve been working on the Intermezzo so I really appreciate hearing you play it so soulfully. The Rach is above my level–nicely done. You’ve really got some chops there!. What a beautiful program. Thank you for sharing. So many talented folks in your church community.

  7. J, agreed. They are all great. I particularly like “Improving Our Models“. You can listen to that one on the Arden Wood site as well.

  8. I was grateful to attend in person and your message throughout the concert was wonderful and uplifting. Truly enjoyed watching how the younger piano students in the audience appreciated the skill with which the performers executed their presentations. Holding this event in the church edifice was a reflection of the love and commitment church has in the community and may be the first or only experience to affect those young people. Incredibly well done!

  9. Thankyou Evan for the concert I shall enjoy later.
And thank you J for the link to Daniel Jensen’s talks. I love his talks and shall read them again.
For anyone praying for S. California, the winds picked up again today. Thank you all for your prayers.
