Eliminate background banter

October 2, 2013 | 10 comments

Is there a din of background noise asserting itself in your consciousness that keeps you from staying focused and productive?

The noise can be very subtle, like vague fears, worries and doubts that create a sensation of mental heaviness. Or it could be distracting banter like “You’re always behind, never caught up, a day late, a dollar short…” that creates frustration and discouragement. Or it could be malicious accusation like, “You’re never going to get it right. You’re going to fail. Give up now!”

Since the human experience is the outcome of human thought, it’s paramount that we watch our mental home and keep all unwanted intruders, thieves and destroyers out!

Jesus instructed his followers to “Cast out devils.” This rule applies to any mindless, aggressive or malicious banter in the background of consciousness. It needs to be cast out and replaced with a Christ consciousness that is 100% tuned into the one Mind’s direction and guidance.

You are never helpless when it comes to thinking right thoughts.

God is your Mind, the only Mind!

The one Mind is filled with thoughts of peace, love, joy, wisdom and intelligence. You know you’re properly identifying with the one Mind when you feel the peace of God well up within you, and the distracting banter disappears.

“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life. Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse.”

Phil 4:6-8, The Message

  2. Thanks, Evan,

I find this section especially thought-provoking, where you wrote:
“Jesus instructed his followers to “Cast out devils.” This rule applies to any mindless, aggressive or malicious banter in the background of consciousness. It needs to be cast out and replaced with a Christ consciousness that is 100% tuned into the one Mind’s direction and guidance.”

I would add…It needs to be cast out and replaced with a Christ consciousness that is 100% attuned to the one Love’s compassion and forgiveness; the one Soul’s harmony and peace, the one Life’s benediction and blessing.

I’m really grateful for the “new views of goodness” you constantly share with your readers.

    Happy soaring.

  3. I can certainly agree on the background banter. In my case it’s the blame game which has become a challenge for me to undertake and undertake I did and I DO. very inspiring I do say so myself as the din of blame becomes smaller and smaller until it completely disappears. (It hasn’t yet but I have no doubt with the study of C/S it will.) It’s much like bringing up children. A little touch of Truth here AND A LOT THERE does wonders for the human.

  4. Once again the most poignant thing in my life that I’m dealing with and you nail it on the head! How your message seems to get to the heart of the matter of what I’m working through never ceases to amaze me! Thank you thank you thank you!
