Work for Peace

It isn’t enough to talk about peace.

One must believe in it.

And it isn’t enough to believe in it.

One must work at it.

  1. Thanks so much for your always-helpful comments, Evan.

The situation in Colorado–the unusual heavy rains and extreme flooding–has me yet again trying to “help” in the way that my study and practice of Christian Science is teaching me: to know the truth, to be set free of the error(s) of belief. (Paraphrasing the words of the Master Christian, Christ Jesus: “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”)

I looked up the word “flood” in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, and found: “The way to extract error from mortal mind is to pour in truth through flood-tides of Love. Christian perfection is won on no other basis.” (Pg. 201)

So, in trying to follow this excellent advice, I will endeavor to so do. But,
whose “mind?” The people of CO? Or mine? No, mortal mind is impersonal error. To pour in truth with flood-tides of Love is to so honor and love the reality of the truth of this and all situations is to conversely dishonor, disbelieve, disallow any possible truth in the opposite. This is God’s demand on us, is it not? To so love the truth, that we cease to react to evil as a real power or reality. We cease to believe in its illusions. This is the ultimate dominion, is it not? And Genesis 1:26 tells us we have been given dominion from God! We HAVE it, and we can USE it! And, yes, love is the greatest part of this dominion! We can DO this!!!

I will WORK at this divine task (as your comment said, Evan!)

    Love,

    Sue

  2. My earlier comment was in regard to the flooding,
but the situation in Syria is like a flood, also…a flooding of world thought with the belief that there are many minds in conflict on almost every topic.
What is the truth, though? If we read the Holy Bible and wish to honor its sacred teachings, we will not honor this belief in any degree. We love the One Mind, God,
the one divine intelligent Supreme Being. Actually we ca
do nothing else. As the rays of the sun, we express only divine Love’s light and harmony. “Mortal mind” would say otherwise, but this mind is a myth.

Thanks for helping me work out these facts with your View from Spirit, Evan!

    Love to you,

    Sue

  3. It is the media that exaggerates the mortal situation to suit the mortal cravings for surprise and adventure. Understanding this frees us from believing in the tragedies ever unfolding itself by way of the news media and allows us to destroy through the understanding that God never made it, caused it or made it to happen.
