Blessings of marriage 3

I’ve spiritually grown to understand marriage as the visible hand of divine Love at work in my life.
Kathy has been the presence of divine Love in my life in so many ways over the last 25 years.
When I was sick, she was there to hold me. When I was discouraged, she was there to give me hope. When I was worried she was there to boost my confidence. When I felt weak, she was strength to lean on. When I was successful she was there to temper my ego. When I needed a helper to keep up with all the demands put upon me, she was there to help. When I was traveling abroad, she stayed at home to care for our children. There are so many ways I could list that Kathy evidenced the love of God at work in my life.
The love, comfort and care are beyond human explanation. To say that “I was lucky and married the right woman for me,” would miss the mark. I was not “lucky.” I was blessed, by God. God brought her into my life. It was not my doing or her doing. It was God’s doing. God brought the two of us together. It was not an accident or perchance meeting.
I do not believe in accidents. I do not believe in chance when it comes to establishing a healthy and happy marriage. Things eternal do not happen by chance. They are the outcome of God’s law of inevitable good blossoming in the life of God’s men and women.
This was certainly the case with Kathy and me.
I did not seek her out. She did not seek me out. Neither of us was necessarily even looking for someone to marry at the time we met. We were pretty happy with our smooth running single lives. But divine Love had other plans…
More to come…

  1. I love it when a “plan comes together”. What a wonderful tribute to you both, and even more to the Father, who guides our every step when we are listening!!

  2. Two heavenly quotes, fruits from a happy marriage:

“God’s in his heaven, all’s right with the world.”
    Robert Browning

“EARTH’S CRAMMED WITH HEAVEN – AND EVERY COMMON BUSH AFIRE WITH GOD”
    Elizabeth Barrett Browning (wife)

    Sancy

  3. What a beautiful tribute to what is obviously a marriage made in heaven!! Yes, Evan, what a very blessed man you are, and I am certain that your lovely wife would have the same accolades to say about you. God, indeed, setteth the solitary in families. It is a joy to read this. I am rejoicing at the evidence of ever presence of divine Love.

  4. That your spouse represents “the presence of divine Love” in your life, is certainly a profound thought to ponder.

  5. Divine Love certainly has plans. I really, at this stage of my life, have no doubt that God has his way in every thing that happens to us, marriage included. Nothing in our lives has any thing separate from God, even the challengers. And if we all understood this, the whole world would be better for it.
