A human being is part of a whole, called by us the Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.

The guy that came up with that must have been a genius! Oh. Wait a minute…
Over the years (studying Christian Science), I have heard numerous times that Albert Einstein used to visit the Christian Science Reading Room in Boston, while he lived in that city. Do any of you know this to be a fact? I’d appreciate knowing.
My CS Teacher highly recommended our reading books by and about Einstein…The Universe and Dr.
Einstein, and others, for example.
Einstein was a “genius,” by human calculation, of course, but to me a genius is an instance of the Light of infinite intelligence breaking through the dark clouds of human reasoning and misconceptions…not a personal “brain” cooking up unusual ideas.
We all know that nothing can stop this Light from
man, and we are learning that we ARE MAN! As we
learn this, the clouds disperse, and eventually will dissolve completely! Oh, Happy Day!

New age spiritual thinkers define man as consciousness, vibration, energy or as frequency holders. But energy, vibration, and frequencies don’t heal. Consciousness alone doesn’t heal. Thank God for Mrs. Eddy and her revelation of man as spiritual and perfect, as the image and likeness of God.
In the 2008 biography “Einstein: His Life and Universe”, Walter Isaacson does make several references to Einstein’s contacts, and those of his family, with Christian Science. From the context, it seems rather likely that he visited the Reading Room in Princeton, where he lived later in life.

I have read that he attended either Ninth Church, Manhattan.
Hmmm.. Very interesting to think about the difference between “consciousness” and “spirit.” I admit that I have thought of the two as synonymous. Evan, might you be willing to clarify???
