Listen and hear

God is speaking to you today. Are you listening?

When another person is talking to you, you must pay attention to absorb what they are saying and form a response. If you are distracted, listening to headphones, reading the news, or thinking about something else, their words may float right on by you without lodging in thought.

The same rule applies to hearing God’s direction. Be sure to listen!

God is an all-knowing, all-wise Mind that has a solution to every problem you face, an answer for every question, and help for every trouble.

To hear God, we must quit talking to ourselves, outlining what we want, and thinking should happen. Self-will is like din in our ears. It’s unwanted deafening noise!!

To hear God, silence human-will, shut down outside distraction, get focused on spiritual reality. Listen for what the voice of Truth has to say. God’s message always gets through to the listening ear.

God is speaking to you today. Listen, hear, and prosper!

“Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left” (Isaiah 30:21, NLT).

  1. Very helpful, calming reminder today Evan. It’s so easy to get caught up in material hustle and bustle.
I love the reminder of who is really in charge of my day…to see its progression from Minds perspective.

‘ Christ is the true idea, voicing good , the divine message from God to men speaking to the human consciousness .’ S&H pg 332
    Happy day all.❣️

  2. The quote from Mary Baker Eddy, the author of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures on page 284 that comes to thought is ‘ The intercommubication is always from God to His idea man.” When I need to hear God giving me the healing solution to a human problem, I am forever grateful God is always speaking, and as His child I am always listening. That is spiritual reality in action.

  3. Thank you Evan and everyone here…this is an echo to what I am hearing in my prayers this morning. It is so good to have our SpiritView family here to turn to for metaphysical support!!! With much love and gratitude to all<3 Sarah

  4. Love this reminder especially the part to quit talking to ourselves. I find myself often having conversations with myself over issues. So important to be still and listen to God. Thank you Evan.

  5. Thank you Evan for this idea to just hear and listen, very good lesson today and everyday.
Thank you Angie for the so appropriate companion articles, so helpful.

    1. Yes the link works M, thank you, great Daily Lift about holding on to the messages God gives us in prayer; and it links to a Sentinel podcast expanding on the speaker’s story.

  6. I like to apply this idea with my three young adult children. Knowing that God is speaking to them always…and they CAN hear. Thank you Evan for this reminder.

  7. Thank you, Evan! I just had an experience this morning which illustrates listening to the “right” voice! There has been a leak coming through my living room ceiling since the weekend and I had called the company which solves any plumbing issues. When the technician came in, he said that if he couldn’t find the source of the leak he might have to “rip out the whole ceiling” to figure out where the problem was located. I confidently prayed, knowing that Mind would reveal what was needed. When he checked upstairs he quickly discovered that it was condensation which had built up from the AC unit–not the toilets, shower, or sinks!! He arranged for an AC technician to come out later today and solve the problem. No matter what issue presents itself, we can always immediately turn to God, Mind, for the correct solution. I am so grateful to be a student of Christian Science. The answer needed is always present in Mind. Thank you again for all your wonderful blogs!

  8. Evan I loooove that photo. We get so involved with our smart phones, that maybe we lose our smarts. It’s a good analogy for every distraction we allow ourselves to be drawn into. So cool to see that visual of God’s name on the caller ID. When God is calling (which I believe is always), we’d better drop everything and take that call.

I appreciated, “God’s message always gets through to the listening ear.” The listening ear is a humble ear.

    Love to all today!

  9. I’m with Rose, and love this pic too. 🙂 A reminder that God needs to be #1 on my Contact list. Great comments and articles everyone, thank you.

  10. Thank you Evan and all for the wonderful references about listening to the right message — God’s message.
The world and imperfect models seem to be before us continuously. Mrs. Eddy says, ” Have you accepted the matter model? ……. Do you not hear from all mankind of the imperfect model? ….The world is holding it before your gaze continually.”
” To remedy this, we must turn our gaze in the right direction…..We must form perfect models in thought and look at them continually….” Page 248 Science and Health.
And then from page 15, ” To enter into the heart of prayer, the door of the erring senses must be closed. Lips must be mute and materialism silent, that man may have audience with Spirit, the divine Principle Love, which destroys all error.” She says, ” Material sense never helps mortals to understand Spirit,God.”
How wonderful to know that the solution already is in Spirit, and the message from God is always our right to hear and know, and that the message blesses all.

  11. “He knows the angels that you need, and SENDS them to your side, to comfort, guard, and guide.” (MBE, with my emphasis on “SENDS”> 🙂 Thank you ALL!
