Astronauts are volunteering to fly to Mars with an expectation of never returning to earth. Would you be willing to do the same?
Maybe you’re not willing to fly to Mars, but a similar commitment and sacrifice is necessary to be successful in the practice of Christian healing. As Jesus Christ taught, we must leave the world behind to enter the kingdom of heaven. And there is no going back!
I see parallels between an astronaut’s willingness to leave all behind for flight to outer space, to what is required to experience the practice genuine Christian Science healing.
Are you ready to sacrifice whatever is necessary to be a successful spiritual healer? Are you willing to let go of material sense to reap the benefits of spiritual sense?
I filmed this vlog on the Yellowstone River, near Miles City, Montana, when my wife and I visited in August 2021.

Great blog and wonderful article. Thanks for sharing.
Evan it is a lot to take in and we stutter when we think about it, Mortal mind puts up barriers. Eventually we get to that place when we can not longer think , but are more than willing to take that leap. When peace within me is all that matters than no words are needed nor wanted just the deepest desire to be at peace. What would we do for that all inward peace?
Love this
Wonderful! Super Helpful. Thank you very much !!
Since there is no birth and no death,
we are already there in Spirit.
We need to recognize this.
My teacher told us, that Mrs. Eddy
said, “If you don’t understand
preexistence, you won’t understand
this existence.”
Does anyone know if this is in
written format.
The Mars concept is a
readiness to acknowledge no
separation of time or space in
spiritual consciousness. No
coming and going.
But I have always thought it
would be fun to go. See where
I am in thought.
When buying a home they say, the
most important factor is location,
location, location. That also applies to
thought as we all know.
Where ever we go, God is already there, because in Him we live, move and breathe and have our being. As you say leaving the material possessions being and reaching forth for those things, spiritual substance, Life, Truth and Love with are the Principle of Divine Being is leaving all for Soul.
This thought came to me when I saw this topic this morning:
“Would existence without personal friends be to you a blank?
Then the time will come when you will be solitary, left without
sympathy, but this seeming vacuum is already filled with divine
Love. When this hour of development comes, even if you cling
to a sense of personal joys, spiritual Love will force you to accept
what best promotes your growth. Friends will betray and enemies
will slander, until the lesson is sufficient to exalt you, for “man’s
extremity is God’s opportunity”….”Universal Love is the divine way…”
(S&H pg:266: 6).
It is in a way, like going to Mars, or better yet, a spiritual place where
all the errors of mortal sense are no longer relevant.
The journey we need to make is not to the unknown, like travelling to Mars, but
to what we are learning about our true habitation in Spirit – which shows us the
way home to God, our heavenly Father-Mother. All we need to give up is the material
sense of everything, which is false and insubstantial. Then we gain the spiritual senses
of everything, the true substance, which begin to appear right where we are. So we are really not giving up anything real or of any value, but by exchanging the objects of sense for the idea os
Soul, we are gaining treasures priceless. So it is a journey out of the material into the spiritual sense of everything – the kingdom within us. We can also take everyone and everything with us in
this way in our prayers and thoughts. As the article shared by Angie states, this kingdom is ours, but we need to understand it, claim it, and enjoy living it according to its law of Love – all
explained in this week’s Bible Lesson..
Similar to what Carol mentioned above, maybe the idea of going to Mars is like going to the Kingdom of Heaven, the Mind of God (we are actually always there, where God put us). The Bible says we are in the world but not of the world. We are of a holy nature, so leaving worldly thinking behind may be the most natural thing we can do — but seemingly not easy due to error’s hypnotic tactics to get us to believe in reality apart from God’s Allness. Thanks Evan for the reminder that we can’t jump off the rocket ship midway, but can stay the course with spiritual sense propelling us.
I have a short list of a few special people I would like to volunteer for the one-way Mars experience; most are government employees at the moment but with proper incentive perhaps… Musk owes me a favor I think.
I am reminded of people that choose (were able to choose) to leave their home countries to escape tyranical governments and find a more free life within other geographies. Mrs Eddy wrote that new forms of tyranny are forever emerging and while commenting on the American Civil War that for her had recently ended, expressed that a new understanding of Christianity, that she was bringing to the world, promised freedom from all forms of slavery. This was a practical freedom carried within and could not be undone by former oppressors following you to a new neighborhood.
This led me to thinking about what I want to let go of in order to move into the great new adventure : I want to let go of my past, thoughts of failure, guilt, remorse, anger, fear, uncertainty, old stories, doubt, indecision, self diagnosed issues, limitation, judgment, double mindedness… Letting go of all these things would allow me to step into my innocence, freedom, freshness, excitement, expectation, joy, wonder, faithfulness, beauty, harmony, expression of Love!!
I am so very grateful to each SpiritView, in the marvelous thought-provoking conversations which follow!
I’m really ready for a NEW adventure today!
Annie, I put this on yesterdays SV in response to the poem MY PLAN, but in case you didn’t see it: this is a poem by Ken Cooper that he put on SV some time ago. The link is: https://kencooperpoetry.com/my-plan/
Brilliant! Thank you Evan! A friend of mine once shared that she had realized she could “Flip the switch” meaning it was a conscious decision to get into and stay in the spiritual state of mind. Even if she forgot and found herself back in the dark, she now knew she could “flip the switch”. Another friend, earlier, had told me that her most significant realization was that she could “Move”. That was her word for Flip-the-switch. “Going to Mars” is a commitment to keeping the switch on, or move forward steadily. When we really get that God, divine Mind, is all there is, what is there to worry about, to fear, to be doubtful of?
Great thought, thanks for sharing Paula! And excellent comments and articles!

Angie: Thank you for Arrhur Wuth’s timeless, invaluable article, Our Daily Identification Work.
Excellent.
Evan: What’s it like on Mars today?
Your clear advanced-thinking is sheer inspiration to so many. Thank you!!!!!
Excellent. Just excellent!
“Evan: what’s it like on Mars today?” Made me chuckle. But so true.
Wow, I am not ready at all to go to Mars, but I am surely ready to let go of material sense to reap the benefits of spiritual sense!
Isn’t this the jearning of all really studying Christian Scientists? Am sure it is!!!
Thank you dear Evan to transform the “Mars journey” into a metaphysical journey to spiritual understanding of our divine being in God!♡
Thank you all dear SV friends for the inspiring articles and comments!♡
Always willing to offer ideas to help others. Thanks.
but doesnt Mary baker eddy say don’t seek the ultimate of things or something like that? are we a failure if we aren’t going all the way? I’m def sincerely not doing that (YET!) 🙂
Emerge gently from matter into Spirit. Think not to thwart the spiritual ultimate of all things, but come naturally into Spirit through better health and morals and as the result of spiritual growth.
