The same boiling water that softens the potato hardens the egg. It’s what you’re made of, not the circumstances, that determines the outcome.

Know your spiritual individuality, safe and secure with God, and any “boiling water” event you face, will only take you to a better place.
Dear Evan thank you for this, which immediately brought to mind hymn 475, the first verse of which reads:
“Forget not who you are, O child of God,
For God demands of you reflection pure;
Your heritage is goodly, and your home,
In Spirit’s warm embrace, is safe, secure.”
The three further verses are beautiful too!. Linda. X
Thanks Linda, great hymn 475. It’s so important to “Forget not who we are” as the children/expressions of God.
Maravilhoso!! Obrigada Professor Evans. desde Brasil um grande abraço.
❤️
Beautiful thought expressing the reality of our experience. Thank you, Evan.
I love this. Thank you
This was very helpful. But then when you have what I call a Dorothy moment , an awakening of a sort, you see your new gained understanding everywhere as I have seen here.
I had one recently about something dear to me but not life threatening and I had to stay ‘porter’ to my thoughts. It resolved. I am grateful God never has given me something I can’t handle: I am taught in just the right increments of understanding. Evan said no moment of understanding is wasted,( or something like that). and it is true. God works in God’s way, only a mystery to human understanding I have learned,
❤️
Fantastic thought and comments, Just what I needed today
Great example !! Another one I love is Christian Scientist are like tea bags their true strength comes out when they’re in hot water

Love it too…thanks.
Thank you Evan and all – very lovely, inspiring thoughts and comments. Sometimes we
question how to interpret things through the “human” or the divine. (Are we the potato
or the egg?) I know there is only One way, but … human mind does tend to get in the
way sometimes and can be dubious in it’s deceit. For example:
Anticipation of the human can be like…
– Waiting for that report card to come
– Waiting to hear our school mentioned for a “snow day” (even more so for teachers) LOL
– Did I get that job?
– Is a sale right? Did it go through?
– Is that new questionable neighbor going to bring more crime?
– Will things change for the better, with the economy… the world?
– Will lies stop being told, so there will be Peace?
– Can others see us in our true light?
I love Evan’s “Know your spiritual individuality, safe and secure with God and any
“boiling water” event you face, will only take you to a better place”. Thank You!
And love hymn # 475 too (Thank you Linda). Love the hymn on the opposite page also.

Thank you very much, dear “J” for this very helpful and inspiring article! It contains such a clear metaphysics which I find very helpful!
Thank you, dear Evan to let us ponder who we really are, and that our individuality is spiritual, the reflection of the one infinite Individuality which is God!
Love this Evan. thank you so much.
Carol. – Your list of questions hit home to me. Throughout the day we face constant suggestions of doubt and uncertainty,— a seeming mental atmosphere of living in a world alienated from divine authority and control. Mortal mind’s persistent whispers in thought of uncertainty and doubt can be very mesmeric, leaving one bewildered, disturbed and lacking confidence in good.
It is so important to begin each day by prayerfully establishing Truth in thought .. God’s allness and our identity as under God’s consistent control, Loves guidance, divine Mind’s. discernment, and Principle’s unwavering stability. So grateful that Christian Science gives us the tools to do this!!
Thank you, Linda and you are right that mortal mind Can be sometimes
mesmeric, leaving us wondering, like Wendy wrote below… to be
(orr not to be influenced by it,) but along those lines, and coinciding with
Evan’s topic, “Nothing is either good or bad, but Thinking makes it so”.
So true.. Spiritual thought is like the fragrance to a flower… always a part
of it’s being. Enclosed in the bud is nature’s blossoming Soul.
Thank you Evan! I needed this ❣️
I love that quote, Evan. Thank you for sharing it for introspection! To be an egg or a potato; that is the question (to remember)…!
