Our natural disposition

December 9, 2024 | 13 comments

A woman was telling me how she was grumpy and hard to get along with in recent times.

I reminded her, “It’s your nature to be happy and grateful!”

She halted for a bit, and then agreed.  “You’re right,” she said.  “God didn’t make me a grumpy mortal.  I exist to express love and joy, and I can do a better job of expressing these qualities!”

It was a turnaround in attitude for her.

We all might need a reality check at times if feeling less than godlike.

By nature, we are spiritual beings designed to express the goodness of God in all its infinite forms of kindness, compassion, thoughtfulness, care, forgiveness, joy, wisdom, and more.  We are good to the core, as God made us.

Anything that is unloving is not part of our nature.  Anger, resentment, complaint, ingratitude, selfishness are foreign to our natural inclinations.  They are not part of God’s design for us.

This is why we always feel best when we are thoughtful, loving, kind, and caring.  We are living true to our real self, made in God’s image.

Our natural disposition is to love.  Enjoy the good results!

  1. A lot is going on for our family at this time, centred around relocating to another part of the country. We have had “opportunities” with housing since returning to the USofA and are yet again packing things for storage, and for travel, and it can get emotional at times…. However we always rely upon God for shelter and security and are always protected. This morning while taking things to the trash, I smiled at the insight that I am a part of God being God – whatever the task may be. THAT was a revelation for me. Thanks folks, you are great.

    1. p.s. Our children attend the online Sunday School while my wife and I attend the online service – both from the Mother Church. And a Sunday School homework assignment for this week is “Spend five minutes each day practicing how to feel and deepen your relationship with God – whether that looks like reading the Bible, praying, or just being still.”

      1. Thank you for sharing John B. What a wonderful gift of Sunday School you and your wife have given to your children. And your faith and trust in God is also a great example for them. Love the homework assignment that can also apply to everyone of all ages. 🙂

  2. Man is…Gods expression..Gods Love…Gods omnipotence…ie..God in action❣️
Thanks you for this today Evan… Love to all.

  3. Evan, I mention to you that I did not receive the daily mailing of your blog, and located today’s by advancing from your Friday offering.

Since there are so few comments, perhaps others have not received an email announcing it’s appearance, and you can call on God, or tech support 🙂

    1. I hadn’t received a SV in my box this morning either. It is now evening time, and I decided to check by logging onto the SV website, and lo and behold, there was today’s one lurking.
This does happen sometimes, and I miss out, thinking that Evan was not sending one that day.

So glad I have found it now, and have enjoyed reading it, and today’s contributors, particularly
the Sunday School assignment, and I agree that it is good for every one of us to do that.

I am sending happy smiling face and lots of gratitude to Evan and all.

  4. Thank you Evan and all. Sometimes it seems the world throws at us
things that would try to make us grumpy. I love where you wrote, “We are
good to the core the way God made us”. With childlike exuberance and joy,
we have innately within us, the spirit of happiness. Our divinely inspired
nature comes through in this spiritual reality. Lovely!

  5. Thank you very much, dear Evan for today’s SV .
I didn’t either get it in my inbox; so I clicked on “newer” on the weekend SV and I got today’s SpiritView!
Yes, wonderful, God made us to express Love and Joy and Health and nothing can pull us down, not even a passing on of a loved friend. God our Life is comforting her and me, and we are not one moment seperated from our Father-Mother God.
Thank you Evan for your always uplifting and healing and loving spiritual views!!!♡

  6. Love today’s message and all the great comments. Especially when Evan reminded us that, “We are good to the core, as God made us,” and that’s why we feel great when kindness, love, care, joy, etc are being expressed through us — because it is our true nature shining forth. Also appreciated John B’s comment, “I am part of God being God,”. and Barbara UK saying, “Man is….God in action.” Thank you all, very helpful!
