“Bunt” is a term from baseball/softball. Rather than batting the ball with a hefty swing to make it go as far as possible, the batter just gives the pitched ball a small bit of force with the bat so the ball doesn’t go travel very far.
Bunting is a baseball term for hitting the ball a very short distance away from all of the infielders, and then trying to run to first base before you can be thrown out. I do not know if there is a comparable tactic in cricket.
The key concept for today’s message is that we should not limit our thinking to small potential gains, but instead live “grand and noble lives.”
To bunt the ball is a play in baseball. Instead of the batter trying to hit so hard that the ball will fly out of the park, giving the batter a home run, sometimes the batter will bunt the ball. That’s when he just lightly hits the ball along the ground on the infield, so the infielders have to scramble to pick up the ball, with the batter hoping he can make it to first base before the ball is retrieved. The quote above is saying don’t just bunt and hope to get to first base, aim high and try for ( or expect?) a home run.
Love, lOve, LOVED your description, plain and simple, finessed for the time it takes to arrive safely on “FIRST” base. Shall we all find a moment to “bunt” in life, to scale the challenge we face, and succeed to progress!
super! thank you, I like baseball and the way the home run sails on outta there. Lesson this week talks about belief melting away into spiritual understanding. Gives me that home run feeling.
Wow, thank you very much, Evan! That’s really interesting how Sheryl, DSI and Sara explaine and interpret the proverb by David Ogilvy.
Thank you very much, you dear 3 commentors!♡
And thank you dear Kim, Rhondda and KD for the spiritual meaning of the proverb, Evan gave us today. I just realise, that I need that meaning very much!
Thanks a lot again, dear Evan! ♡
I understand, it means, to set my aim/goal high into the spiritual realm of our God-given reflection of Life, Truth and Love and all the other synonyms, too! ♡
Thank you dear Evan for this loving and healing forum of your SpiritView blog.

The discoverer of Christian Science finds the path less difficult when she has the high goal always before her thoughts, than when she counts her footsteps in endeavoring to reach it.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 426:5–8)
When I read the quote above … the thought came from S&H where Mrs. Eddy
writes, ” To reach heaven, the harmony of being, we must understand the
divine Principle of being. “God is Love”. More than this we cannot ask, higher
we can not look, farther we cannot go.”
The heavenly height of God’s creation is endless into eternity’s space.
Love is there. Love is everywhere.
Thank you dear Angel for your loved comment. To one of my favorite passages by MBEddy, you mention up here, namely ” God is Love. More than this we cannot ask, higher we cannot look, farther we cannot go” – I always ad for myself …- and more we do not need.” That is so satisfying for me – LOVE is the healer and all need Love. How lucky can we be that GOD is Love and the great healer!
Full honesty about life goals: Be aware that if you aim high you often fall far at times, as well as potetially reaching bigger goals. So you get more embarrassment and injury but you also get more big achievement and satisfaction. So in life goals only aim big if you have resilience to publically fail as well as reap big rewards.
Each one should ask for Divine Guidance on the best goals for them.
But Evan likely meant spiritually: aim high to be as masterful as the Way Shower. You cannot lose by trying for that even if you fail.
I love this. To me, it says not to be afraid to LIVE! Be bold, be fearless, knowing the very God of creation – the one who created us – is too.
I am not familiar with the expression to bunt. Could someone please explain it to me. Thank you.

I love this. Don’t be conservative or timid in your good works. Swing hard and demonstrate your God given talents. A blessed day to all.

Achievement | Innovation | Motivation
