It’s a common question many people have: If God is the creator of the universe, then everything we see and experience must be created by God, including material things, sin, disease, and death.
To the matter-based mind, the question is perfectly logical. But Jesus Christ taught otherwise. He showed us that what we see with the material senses is not what it appears to be. When he turned sick bodies into healthy bodies, he proved that sickness is not the fixed fact it appears to be. It is illusion. When he walked out of the tomb alive after being crucified, he proved that death is not the reality it appears to be. It is an illusion of the human mind.
So yes, God is the creator of all that exists, but what truly exists is not properly appraised by the human mind. The material senses have a very limited view of reality. They are hopelessly ignorant on the subject.
Divine Science comes to the rescue and explains reality for our benefit, so we can sort out what is true from what is not true.
Mary Baker Eddy, the discoverer of Christian Science writes, “In divine Science, the universe, including man, is spiritual, harmonious, and eternal. Science shows that what is termed matter is but the subjective state of what is termed by the author mortal mind” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 114). In the eternal scheme of things, the subjective state of mortal mind, called matter, becomes a non-existent memory of the past that has no relevance to our Life in Spirit enjoyed with God forever. The same truth applies to the temporal sensations of sin, disease, and death.
Yes, God is the creator of all things—all things that are real and eternal—the spiritual, the good, and the true!
Beautifully expressed, Evan!
What sprang immediately to my thought
was this citation from the Bible: It is one of
my favourite passages.
“…be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying. ……..
And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
(Isaiah 65:18–20 (to There), 24)
God is with us eternally, and we are created to
rejoice in all His blessings and to be joyful and
free, and to continually give thanks to Him. He has
given to us of His Spirit to glorify Him and share His
joy with each other. What a wonderful God we
have.
After posting the above I thought of this saying::-
The saying “When you laugh the world laughs with you, when you cry you cry alone” is the first line of the poem “Solitude” by American poet Ella Wheeler Wilcox. The phrase reflects the idea that people are more willing to share in joy and happiness than in sorrow and pain.
Origin: The poem “Solitude” was written by Ella Wheeler Wilcox in 1883. She was inspired to write it after being unable to comfort a grieving woman on a train.
Meaning: The line suggests that while happiness is infectious and draws people to you, sorrow is a personal burden that others are often reluctant to share. (I FOUND THIS EXPLANATION OF THE SAYING IN GOOGLE>
So it is so good that following the teachings of Christian
Science we cam actually comfort in a wonderful way whose who need comfort, and lift up their thoughts.
We are immortal beings expressing our immortal Life of Truth and Love, NOW! Mrs. Eddy writes;
TO BE IMMORTAL, WE MUST FORSAKE THE MORTAL SENSE OF THINGS, TURN FROM THE LIE OF FALSE BELIEF TO TRUTH, AND GATHER THE FACTS OF BEING FROM THE DIVINE MIND..(SH 370). Let us awake to our true immortal existence!
“The Christian Scientist has enlisted to lessen evil, disease and death and he will overcome them by understanding their nothingness and the allnessof God, good.” MBE
Thank you, Evan. The truths you have so logically stated are a force for healing!
Thankyou Evan, so in insightful, Today’s Daily Thought is revelent to this, Man’s genuine Selfhood is recognizable only in what is good and true. , Thankyou all for your inspirations

Thank you, Evan.
Thank you Evan! Your postings each day are very helpful but this one today was especially awesome!
This morning I was thinking how the words we use can give the wrong impression. For example, when I was in college, we had to show how we arrived at the solution to a problem. In physics, for example, it could take a page or two for me to show how I calculated the solution to a problem. In some cases, the answer to the problem was in the back of the textbook. Sometimes after working a problem and comparing my answer to the textbook answer, I’d find my answer was not correct. In that case, my page or two of calculations could be considered an “illusion.” If I had taken my calculations to the professor, the professor wouldn’t have said “Go and pray about it.” If they had told me to go pray about it, I might have been left me with the impression I had to go beg some physics deity to help me. Instead, the professor might have said “Go back to the textbook to refresh yourself about the truth, then use that truth to reason out the correct answer!” That advice would have left me with the understanding the solution to the problem was “already available” and I just needed to align my thinking with the truth in order to “realize it.”
In CS, we often talk about “praying.” But isn’t praying really just a) reminding ourselves of the truth (or studying to realize the truth) and then b) using “reason” to apply the truth to whatever is discordant to replace the discord in our thinking with God’s all-harmonious truth? And just like in college physics when I didn’t doubt for a second Newton’s laws of motion or the conservation of energy principle or any of the other laws of physics were true, it’s important when working out a problem in CS, not to doubt for a second God’s truth.
For example, yesterday I went for a walk around the neighborhood with my wife. About half way through our 45-minute walk my right foot and ankle started to hurt. I was able to keep walking but each step was uncomfortable. At first I wondered if perhaps this was a symptom of gout. My neighbor has relayed the symptoms of gout to me recently and those symptoms seemed similar to what I was experiencing. Then my thought went to a painful condition I had a few years ago with one foot that a co-worker who saw me limping at work diagnosed as “plantar fasciitis.” That had come on suddenly too when I was walking one day. But I had a healing of that through CS and therefore when that suggestion came to me, I automatically countered that belief with the truth that “once we’re healed of something through CS we can never be subjected to that belief again.” That was a wake-up call to remind myself of “What did God create.” So as I was walking and my wife was talking I silently reasoned from the truth that God didn’t create any discord so the pain I was experiencing couldn’t be true. It instead had to be just an “aggressive mental suggestion.” Then I reasoned from the truth that God is Love and would never afflict his idea (me!) with a painful condition and therefore I could refute these suggestions because they are NOT true. And I realized the truth wholeheartedly…that it is true right now and the truth is the manifestation (creation) of God, Truth, and therefore there was no doubt it was true! With that the fear departed and I no longer was focused on the pain and as I continued walking at some point the pain stopped and I was able to complete the walk pain free and have been pain free ever since.
I’m so grateful Mrs. Eddy revealed the true meaning of prayer to everyone and showed us how the people of the Bible used “reasoning out from the truth” to free themselves from various discords. And we can too! I’m also grateful Mrs. Eddy and the people of the Bible revealed to us “What God created.” Thank you again Evan for reminding us of what God created via your blog post today!
Ahhh! What a feast of enlightening words and comments. I’ll put this in my archives for later study! thanks , everyone!
THANK YOU FOR THIS REMINDER WHICH ANSWERS THE QUESTION; AND WHAT AM I LEARNING TODAY!
I love the way you explain and clarify this Truth, Evan. Thank you!
What did God create? A very compelling question. The answer to it is so needed, especially in the larger society and world, where many people misunderstand God and can’t reconcile the discord they seem to see all around with the idea of a completely good, all-loving God. I pray that all can know the explanation that only false, mortal mind sees the discords as real, because it is a small, fake, erroneous view of life. Divine Love is all that is REAL. Thank you and Love to all.
We are often so tempted to believe in false illusions. Like illusionists
who saw a person in half, but we all know it is untrue, but yet it Seems
to look so real. Or the many illusions that try to trick us into believing,
that train tracks are converging together when in fact it is just our
incorrect perception of them that make them appear that way. We don’t
worry that the train may fall off the tracks, but trust in Knowing, even if
a false picture tries to fool us. The same is true for a mirage on the road,
looking like there is a puddle there. mortal senses are so deceptive. The
Truth of God’s creating is so important to see correctly.
