A glad New Year

December 30, 2022 | 37 comments

Here’s a poem written by Mary Baker Eddy on New Year’s Day, 1910.

O blessings infinite!
O glad New Year!
Sweet sign and substance
Of God’s presence here.

Give us not only angels’ songs,
But Science vast, to which belongs
The tongue of angels
And the song of songs.

Miscellany, p. 354

Human events come and go, but God’s Science continues to unfold the realities of Life in Spirit that are forever ours to enjoy.

May your New Year be filled with fresh revelation and healing inspiration coming from God’s angels on high!

  1. I posted this last new year and I hope people will forgive me for doing so again …

    The following poem by Minnie Louise Haskins, was quoted by King George VI in his 1939 Christmas Day broadcast to the British people;

    And I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year:
    “Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.”
    And he replied:
    “Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the Hand of God.
    That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way.”
    So I went forth, and finding the Hand of God, trod gladly into the night.
    And He led me towards the hills and the breaking of day in the lone East.”

    Nrw Year bessings to you Evan and Kathy and to all our worldwide SpiritView family xx

      dear Evan thank you very much for your beautiful New Years wishes and likewise a wonderful and glad New Year to you and your dear family!♡♡♡♡

      Hymn 7, I feel is a hymn full of comfort and healing for the coming year:

      Abide with me; fast breaks the
      morning light;
      Our daystar rises, banishing all night;
      Thou art our strength, O Truth that
      maketh free,
      We would unfailingly abide in Thee.

      I know no fear, with Thee at hand
      to bless,
      Sin has no power and Life no wretch-
      edness;
      Health, hope and Love in all around
      I see
      For those who trustingly abide in Thee.

      I know Thy presence every passing
      hour,
      I know Thy peace, for Thou alone art
      power;
      O Love divine, abiding constantly,
      I need not plead, Thou dost abide
      with me.

      A happy and joyful New Year full of fresh revelation and healing inspiration, as Evan says, to you all – with Love !♡♡

  3. Magnifiques poèmes !!!! A méditer tout le long de l’année !!! Intemporal and Still of actuality !!

    Happy new year to all !!!

  4. Thank you to Evan and to all for this blog. It is truly a rope to tie a knot in to hang on during difficult moments. Bicknell Young said something like that once. I visualize sometimes what my late teacher used to call mortal mind. -The sea of mental garbage. I used to imagine myself floating in this mess and then the rope, the Truth , pulling me out.
    Happy New Year 2023

    1. Your comment made me think of Matthew 5:3 from The Message:

      You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule.

      In the KJV it’s this:

      Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

      Sometimes we have to exhaust all of our own will before we yield to the truth that Truth, God, has been maintaining/manifesting all along.

      My 2023 hope for us all is that we accept that the kingdom of heaven is at hand – God’s true idea of each of us and everything is ever present to realize and demonstrate now!

      1. Thank you RH, I love the translation from The Message. The verse always seemed a bit unclear to me when I read it in the KJV.

        So true that often it seems our human will must be exhausted before there is a yielding to truth, That is the stubbornness of error trying to cling to us. I pray to see that we can yield IMMEDIATELY to God, and not have to wait until we get to the end of the faulty human rope (human will, human outlining, lack of humility).

        Sending Love to Evan and family and to all of us here, holding each other’s hand, growing together in grace and spiritual understanding. Happy Continuous Now!!

  5. I treasure all of your comments. This thought came to me early this morning. “it is not necessary to go backward to go forward” what a gem and so appropriate for this time of year. The gratitude I feel in my heart for all of you is so welcome. Our adventure into the unfolding of the coming days, months, and year. We are not valued by the passing of days, months ,or years, but our connection to each other and to our Father/Mother who is LIFE itself.

  6. Thank you all for your thoughts that keeps the light shining brightly. Looking forward to continuing in this light and seeing the infinite reach of it illumination and inspiration!

  7. Happy New Everyday to you all! Every day we have a new start, like a new
    year and have so many ways to prove God’s Love and care for us all. I have
    been hearing on many news sites, lately, that the answer to many of our current
    problems is to bring God back into our lives. How true and refreshing to hear
    this from unsuspecting places.

  8. Beautiful messages from everyone today…loving the inspiration!
    Happy New Spiritual unfoldment Year to you all ,.. to Evan and your family….to learning to lean consistently on our Father/Mother…to expressing and sharing Gods Love.
    Excellent daily lift today includes this from MBE…
    “God expresses in man the infinite idea forever developing itself, broadening and rising higher and higher from a boundless basis” (S &H pg 258)
    Love to all❣️

    1. “progress is not a result of human effort but of divine revelation”
      That thought stood out to me when I read the article “A new year and God-directed progress”.

  14. Every day is the start of the following year (s) of days.
    “Let us feel the divine energy of Spirit, bringing us into newness of life and recognizing no mortal nor material power as able to destroy.” (Science and Health p. 249:6–8)

    Every day is new. Let’s remember not to drag the past into the future or feel as if we have to wait for a year to start a new one or turn over a new leaf. Today is the DAY…God’s day…every day.
    Thank you so much Evan for bringing together the thinkers, the movers and shakers, and those who are still wanting to learn together in this progressive way . Thank you for your constancy and dedication to the world and us out here!

    1. Thank you Diane. In 2 Corinthians 6:2 it says, “Now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” Happy newness and nowness with God to all!

    2. Thank you Diane! yes a needed prayer for everyday, to let us feel the divine energy of Spirit leading us into newness of life and into all Truth!
      And I love to know that today and everyday is God’s blessing and joyfilled day!!
