Appreciate what you already have

“We need much less than we think we need.”

~ Maya Angelou

It’s quite likely that what you already have with God is spectacularly more than you’ve even begun to appreciate and value.

  1. when I click on read whole entry it does not open to read

asked this a couple of times but I get no answer

    1. Joan,

Everything is working fine. It must be something about the device you are using. Try clicking on the title instead. That will get you to the entry as well.

    2. Maybe I’m wrong, but if you are able to submit a comment that means you successfully opened the entry. I don’t know of any other way to submit a comment to a specific blog entry without first successfully opening the specific blog entry. And since your comment came through fine, perhaps Sarah’s comment is true and you just thought there was more than just one line to read in the blog today (one line after the quote).

  2. Joan, try clicking on the very first line which is the blog heading (in red) . It is the first line under the SpiritView logo. As soon as you take the cursor to this line you will see the words “external link” appear.

  3. Also, Joan, it’s not a long entry – just one sentence after the quote. Maybe that’s misleading to you?

  4. This is so good, just what I need to hear. Thank you ! As I ponder giving away more, including my spiritual qualities! Helpful reminder.

  5. Thank you, Evan! Even on a material level……a lot of people have waaaay more “stuff” than they really need! Especially Americans! We’ve been taught and we’ve bought the theory that “material stuff” will make you happy. It doesn’t. It is often just a burden. I believe we are moving into a more Spiritual Age….time to let go of Materialism, and learn to think, speak and live from a Higher and Finer level……the Spiritual!

  6. Thanks a lot Evan – yes, with God we have much more qualities and ideas as we think we have. We are really the reach children of an abundantly reach Father-Mother-God – thank God for that!

    1. naturally I ment, that we are really the rich children of an abundantly rich Father Mother God, and we can be most grateful for that! 😉

  7. “The baptism of Spirit, washing the body of all the impurities of flesh, signifies that the pure in heart see God and are approaching spiritual Life and its demonstration.” 241:27 SH

Big subject and I hope it gets everyones mental juices flowing…

What do we need to participate in this Great and Holy Work…….
Bevi is so right ….Fill your house, then the garage then rent a storage unit in the pursuit of stuff… “When God made stuff…He made plenty” as a variation on an old adage goes….

Have you noticed the more you have the more it takes to maintain ….?
I see even christian Scientist fall into the trap of thinking they have successfully demonstrated
because they own large houses ,,have investments, and ridiculous amounts of creature comforts….then become possessive of it … afraid to lose it, won’t share it, comfort to the point their spiritual senses become dulled, egotistical….in other words they have forgotten the ever present infinite source….they have forgotten what this work of Christ is about….yes I know to each his own…..and yes i have know homeless who demonstrate less supply but many times more spiritual awareness, generosity and gratitude then some of us…..
By the way you are already demonstrating… you have been since the beginning…its our natural ability and we will always demonstrate our thoughts and beliefs… this is why spiritual work is so important…as we chemicalize our thoughts it stands to reason what we demonstrate will change…..
End with a somewhat crude but apropos quote from Zig Ziglar….”If your thinking is stinking….
chances are your life is in the same condition”

  8. Thanks, Maximo! You said some REally Good Stuff! I think one of the challenges is to find the balance between having material things and living a spiritual life. How to Be In The World, But Not Of It…….???

  9. What do you need? What makes your world go round? I know my world would never work without God. So I know my starting point would begin with spirituallizing my life. I start my day with God. I refresh my day with extra study and I end my day in prayer.
That is all I need. That makes and keeps me happy.

  10. Hmm…..we THINK we are DOING something TO ourselves and others…HAVING….GETTING….dealing with….etc….etc…but in the Larger Picture, it is all God and His/Her Doing: Mind and Its infinite ideas, ever-unfolding goodness and love. Period.

(Last week’s Lesson got to me!!)

Webster’s definition of “all?” “Nothing else but.”

We need to relax and REFLECT more, perhaps. (Well, actually, all we CAN do is REFLECT!)

    So…there!

    With much love, though…

    :<)))

  11. Beautiful quote Evan. Thank you for your message. Patty, I too know my world would never work without God. I start my day with God. I refresh my day with extra study and I end my day in prayer. But in between and at bedtime endless gratitudes all day long: i.e., grateful for the furnace warming my home and all the people who work to keep our power on; for a lovely townhouse that meets my every need; for a peaceful view from my recliner of the beautiful silhouette of leafless tall trees against the blue sky; for the little birds on the feeders chirping and the squirrels with their antics; for running hot water (did not have growing up); for two college grandsons who bring their girlfriends to grandmas for dinner and games; and on and on.

Thank you all for your comments.

  12. I, too, was unable to pull up the full article–there was no “read the whole entry” to click on, nothing that bloggers suggested we try. But, appreciated and loved what everyone wrote in on their comments. Many thanks.
