Check first with God about what route to take

“Don’t think you’re on the right road just because it’s a well-beaten path.”

~ Author unknown

Taking the easy route is not always the best route.

It’s wiser to ask first, “Where is this path going to take me?” If it takes you to a spiritually progressive place, then there’s something to be desired there. If it’s merely a material sense shortcut for a quick sensual result, then it’s going to be a trek that has to be backtracked and figured anew.

Make the best choice the first time!

  1. Ex 23:20 ‘Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. ‘
God’s promises are just that – promises.

    1. Wonderful Evan! “This IS the way (walking with God our father-mother) walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand and when ye turn to the left…” This was in the lesson a few weeks ago and it really stood out to me that God is guiding us when we follow her lead to the right or righteousness and even if we get off track to the left. It is so very wise to take the correct path, but even if we don’t, God will lead us back and teach us the necessary lessons on the way. Our God is merciful, forgiving, and loves us so very intimately.

  2. And it’s wonderful to know that, as the Bible tells us, God’s promises are kept. So we can expect God’s angels to lead us safely in right paths which He has prepared for us to walk in. We can walk right through any “valley of discordant worldly suggestions” safely and fearlessly as we follow God’s angels.

  3. I should have added that the Daily Lift mentioned
Jeremiah 29:11. “For I know the thoughts that I think
toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

  4. THE perfect things to say— all of you who chime in today. Later This morning I have volunteered to lead a couple of gals walking a path in a new nature reserve in our city.
How cannot I find myself thinking grateful thoughts—myself—along the way? Thank you others and, of course,God.

  5. A childhood training at the highest level – “Stop Look Listen” . Great fun to explore so many of these teachings from their spiritual perspective!

  6. Thank you, Evan, and for all who have shared their inspiring thoughts. “I walk with Love along the way, and Oh it is a holy day.” This may not be an exact quote from a favorite hymn, but expresses the essence. Following this guidance, we can make no wrong turns!

    1. Thank you, Evan, very good about always starting with God. And thank you, Lori, for reminding me of that hymn, ‘I walk with Love along the way,’ and how that has not only blessed me, but also encourages me to bless everyone and everywhere I go – seeing the love and beauty and joy, and sharing them.

  7. One thing I like about the Christian Science understanding of God–if you sin, God doesn’t punish you in Hell with Everlasting Conscious Torment because you’ve infinitely offended His infinite honor. God simply says, “That didn’t work out too well, did it? Let’s try something else.” And eventually, all those “something else”s lead us to Heaven! 🙂

    1. Yes, Ashpenaz. And this reminds me of the story of Lot in the Bible, which I love so much, when the angels came to him to guide him out of Sodom, and he could not bring himself to follow them. But then the Bible says (Genesis 19:16): ” And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand and upon the hand of his wife, ad upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.”
God’s angels deliver us and guide us, and do not let us go astray.
Thank you always, Evan, for all your precious posts!
