I like the below quote I picked up from a friend recently. It reminds us that we can make a choice between sorrow and joy, and that there is great reward in making the higher choice.

When I was deep in grief, besides praying minute by minute, day by day, year by year, I consciously added happiness and joy each day to my life. That was the only way I could get through. And also to honor where I was each day in the meantime.
