If you like to stay healthy, be quick to dispute early on any symptoms of disease that appear. The symptoms may feel physical, but they are mental, and they can be eliminated with spiritual truth.
Mary Baker Eddy tells us how to do this successfully. She writes, “When the first symptoms of disease appear, dispute the testimony of the material senses with divine Science” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 390).
Divine Science is spiritual truth. Symptoms of disease are mortal mind beliefs. Spiritual truth corrects and eliminates mortal mind belief.
Don’t be intimidated by symptoms. Don’t fear them or concede power to them. Be quick to move thought over from indulging the symptoms to arguing spiritual truth that eliminates the symptoms. Know your spiritual truth with God!
God made you spiritual. God made you healthy and has designed you to stay healthy. Sickness has no abiding place in a spiritual creation of God.
Be quick to agree with reality, and even quicker to disagree with disease. Know spiritual truth and stay healthy.
Thanks for the inspiring idea to disagree with disease and take medicine of Spiritual Truth and get healed.
“The symptoms may feel physical, but they are mental, and they can be eliminated with spiritual truth.” … This is so helpful, what a great, succint way to put it, and it easily shows that symptoms can be eliminated with spiritual truth BECAUSE they are mental!
Also, the other reminders, such as being prompt at disputing symptoms, are very helpful.
Thank you!
Thankyou Evan, This is such a powerful message to live by.
Thank you for this declaration of Truth. One night, I was going to let my dog out
for the last time, when he began shaking his head violently and non-stop. I checked
to make sure there wasn’t anything in his ear that could be causing such discomfort.
I was alarmed to see a very disturbing redness. I was tempted to be very frightened
by this inflamed appearance, but the thought immediately came “why should we
stand aghast at nothingness? (The great red dragon symbolizes a lie, -the belief
that substance, life, and intelligence can be material)” (S&H pg 563). There was really
no other choice, but to try to see this sweet dog’s reality without these troubling
symptoms. I continued to see him as a reflection of God’s Love and he calmed
down and had a very peaceful night and the next morning he was fine, without any
head shaking or discomfort. It was such a wonderful feeling of knowing his perfection
without what Appeared to be troubling him.
I like where you have written, Evan, “Don’t be intimidated by symptoms. Don’t fear
or concede power to them. Be quick to move thought over from indulging the
symptoms to arguing spiritual truth that eliminates the symptoms Know your
spiritual truth with God!” When we do this, we see only perfection where mortal
mind would try to get us to see otherwise.
What a lovely healing for your dog Carol! Thank you for sharing and thank you Evan for reminding us all about our ever present sustaining Truth. B.x
Thank you Evan for this powerful message today. I also loved that Carol applied spiritual healing to her dear dog. Since “Life” is a synonym for GOD that’s a perfect way to heal all forms of God’s ( LIFE’s) creation.
Thank you so much dear Barbara and Virginia, for your kind words.
I am so grateful to have the Truth of Christian Science to turn to in
times like that. The gentle love expressed to and from my dear dog
was a calming factor that eased the situation right away. Seeing him
the way God sees him, with unconditional love, which he expresses,
(dog = God spelled backwards, so he definitely IS a reflection) –
eradicated fear from my thought that this was something that was
going to take “time” to have him settle and heal. I refused to let the
alarming symptoms let that be a part of him and he responded in a
quiet and calming way the rest of the night and beyond.

You really are a gem J. I love that article, so straightforward.Thank you and of course Evan.
Evan says we should not fear symptoms (error) or concede power to them. Mrs. Eddy said, “Evil is not power.” (S&H p.192) In Chestnut Booth’s recent talk, kindly posted on SV by Cheryl on 2/13 and I repeated on 2/19, the speaker reminds us several times that we don’t have to consent to evil and that evil is no-thing and no one – and not you.
Today I found this on cslectures.org, “Evil is Not Power,” a reprint of a CS leaflet from 1907.

Thank you Rose. I look forward to listening Chestnut Booth’s lecture and reading “Evil is not Power” over the weekend. 🙂
Thank you again Evan, this is going to be a “keeper” for me. And thank you all in the SV family for generously sharing healings, articles, and resources. God bless.
