Do you recognize your helper?

March 29, 2013 | 7 comments

Have you ever felt helpless, hopeless, or alone, unable to bear the burden of the moment?
You don’t need to anymore.
You are not alone. You are not helpless.
Christ is with you. Christ is in you, giving you all the power, capacity and ability you need to overcome any challenge and move forward to something better.
I’m not sure how many people appreciate what Christ can do for them.
Many people, I suppose, think of Christ as Jesus, a man who lived 2000 years ago. That was then, and this is now, they may reason, figuring Christ is irrelevant. A man who lived 2,000 years ago is no aid today, they conclude. But that reasoning couldn’t be further from the truth. Christ lives forever.
The power that worked through Jesus is present today. “I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world,” he told his followers.
The same power that healed through Jesus is in you, as a child of God.
Are you aware of this presence? Are you letting it benefit you?

Jesus said, “When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.” (John 14:20 NLV.)

Consider what it means for Christ to dwell in you and you in Christ.

Christ is God’s power and presence, “The divine manifestation of God, which comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error.”  Mary Baker Eddy wrote. (SH 583:10.)
When you have Christ you have everything! You have the best help available. You have the best health provider, caretaker, supplier, encourager, supporter, and companion. You absolutely do not lack. It’s impossible.
But you need to recognize the presence of Christ to feel it consistently. Honor it. Value it. Acknowledge it. Be aware of it. When you do, those feelings of helplessness and lack will vanish like vapor into thin air.

  1. Thank you so much for the inspiring words. That’s the perfect message for today’s (and all, of course 🙂 prayers.

The answers, the messages, the words, are everywhere, we just have to stay calm, awake, and keep our ears and eyes open!!

God has His perfect timing, always 🙂

  2. Thank you so much. Hymn 361 in the Christian Science Hymnal says
“Thy helper is omnipotence.” Can’t ask for more.

  3. The description of Christ as God’s power and presence is the clearest definition of the Christ I’ve ever read (after years of studying Christian Science). The Christ seemed vague to me, honestly. That one sentence in your blog today has opened it all up for me. Thank you, Evan. Happy Easter to you and yours..the Christ IS here, all dreams of error breaking (hymn in the CS hymnal) ! Rejoicing!

  4. Happy Easter everyone! When I woke up I’ve heard the message that ONLY HEALTH IS PERMANENT which means that only what God made is permanent. This encouraged me to accept that I could be healed and I am already healed!
Thank you Evan the Christ is really in us and we are in Christ!

  5. When I first took up the study of C/S, I made a practice to see material objects as symbols of spiritual truth. And so it was with symbolizing Christ. I thought of the Christ as a plug in from God to mortal man waking him up to his real self as the immortal image of God. Much like a lamp whose light bulb was God, the wire as the Christ and the plug as the realization that man is not material but spiritual.

  6. As an alcoholic, I turned to God: “You lead, I shall follow”. Having not the thirst nor the desire, I have been sober for 24 years.

  7. This is perfect for my needs today, Evan. I am reading it for the first time, weeks after you wrote it, but today is the day I needed to see it.

Thank you so much for this message, and all your other messages of inspiration. Even though I don’t comment often, I so appreciate your blog.
