Do you ever get so busy with a daily routine that you forget about God? It happens.
One may get up in the morning, mentally consult his to-do list, launch into the first activity, then the next, and the next, and the next, and before he knows it, it’s time to go to bed. “Where did the day go?” he silently protests. Then he falls asleep, gets up the next morning, and does the same thing all over again.
If you want to lead a spiritually progressive life, be sure to make time for God! Spiritual growth and increased understanding of divine Love is one of the greatest contributors to health and happiness you can ever have. As the Bible reminds us, “To be spiritually minded is life and peace” Romans 8:6.
“How can I make more time for God?” one may ask. And the answer lies in setting priorities.
We pursue our priorities.
Whatever we believe to be the most important activity is what we commit our time and energy to first. Everything else becomes secondary or left out.
So, if living a spiritually inspired life is important to you, set it as a priority and you’ll find the time and desire you need to follow through with success. It’s one long term investment in health and happiness it’s wise not to overlook.
Making it a priority to spend time daily with God is the answer to developing and maintaining an amazing and personal relationship with Him.
It’s in consistency that will enable us to achieve this.
Thanks Evan. A very lovely article indeed. Its so very important to give first priority to the one who gives us everything in life – OUR GOD, our very Life.
God is our best friend, our comforter, our strength, our life, our support and strength our Provider, protector who showers us daily with umpteen gifts and pure, unconditional love. Don’t we owe our allegiance, our loyalty to God by giving Him the first place in our life, and by starting with prayers?
Whenever I leave aside loads of work, which I need to attend and start my day by giving God the first place, my day is always blessed. Everything moves so harmoniously, smoothly, effortlessly and the day ushers in a lot of happiness and peace, and its filled with blessings.
Very nice. If all there is to life is the spiritual it will be the focus all day long and a lovely thing it is.
As soon as I get up in the morning, I wash my hands and face, brush my teeth AND study the C/S Bible Lesson to wash out the cobwebs from my consciousness. Isn’t the mental cleaning just as important as the physical cleaning, and even more important?
One way to ensure you always give God priority in your life is to develop a sincere deep abiding LOVE for God.
Back in grade school occasionally I would develop a “crush” on some girl in my class. I remember when that happened, that girl would be the only thing I could think about day and night. My stomach would even ache slightly because of it. LOL
I’ve decided recently that I need to get that same kind of “crush” on God. Some days I’m better at doing that than others. But starting my day by silently remembering, and being grateful for, all of the loving kindness God expresses to me is a good start towards my being able to continuously reflect that love back to God and His/Her perfect idea. We always manage to fit in activities in our day that we love, right?
A friend spoke recently of a pillow cover her mom needlepointed for her when she was a child. God First, it says. God FIRST! ! Love what you wrote, Tobias, and Brian, you made me smile! Love the phrase in the article:…”a spiritually progressive life.” 🙂 Who doesn’t want that? Thank you, Evan, for sharing your insights so generously!
I do sometimes do that…getting out in the cool early morning. It feels like God all over at that time of morning. And sometimes it feels like God shoved me out there to show me how beautiful life is. I ask Him what he would have me to do…to express His nature. So I am in tune with God at the same time. I feel like that’s a good thing….expressing God like that. Hopefully it is pleasing to both of us.
Thank you so much, Evan! Thanks to Nergish whose eloquent reminder touched my heart – our first priority is to give thanks to Life who gives us everything in life. What a wash of comfort that statement is to me. So grateful for everyone’s unique way of loving God. Loving the moments with God. Thanks again, Evan for your wonderful insights and loving prompts.
I’ve thought about the 10 Commandments recently and how I need to review them often and make sure I’m striving to obey them. Putting God first certainly helps to follow the 1st one! Thanks for the article and comments! (=
Evan and all! what wonderful reminders, so gently expressed. I needed every one of them. Too much “busy–ness” in my life and how grateful I am for the reminder that GOD IS FIRST.
Today I have stopped all human chasing about and am quietly thanking God for everything. The “peace and joy and power” of the reminder has chastened me and made me realize how I have neglected the “first”——thinking that the material job must be done right now. Thank you, dear Father, for always being there for me–and for the unknown but loving followers out there who contribute so much along with Evan. Gratitude fills my thought now. My cup runneth over.
Thanks Evan and everyone for your helpful comments. I do get my Bible Lesson study in first thing each morning to start my day, but find I still get caught up in whatever I am doing. I bought a watch that I set to beep each hour. When it beeps, I stop, be still and focus on God and re-establish my connection with Him, how am I serving HIm, what I am doing. Being quiet and re-centering thought Godward helps me when I am really busy to remember who I am, that I am really working for and serving.
Wow! Another great day with great ways of expressing our love and gratitude for God. My daughter recently gave me a journal. The cover says ” “Never Underestimate the Power of Thought”. I love writing into my journal all the wonderful things related to this topic.
I love to sit outdoors in the sunshine and feel God’s Love pouring out goodness. I always feel so blessed and assured of God’s grace .
Even if I miss a day I talk to God in my car as I drive. I thank Him through out the day for each little thing He provides. Gratitude is always the key along with awareness.
