Eliminate worry about the future

September 13, 2021 | 26 comments

Do you ever worry about what might happen in the future? If so, there’s a way to heal that anxiousness and find peace of mind.

I share some ideas in this video on how to live in the moment you’re in, rather than worry about moments yet to come.

This vlog was filmed in Quail Creek State Park, in Utah, when Kathy and I passed through last May.

  1. Yes indeed! Today’s foundation is necessary to secure tomorrow’s structure, don’t allow worry or fear to fret, gnaw it away. Be a spiritual Prophet and the mouthpiece worthy of God’s Word.

    1. Good point F. I love the “living in the now idea’” but sometimes I would hear a fearful, mortal counter thought that said, If you’re always in the now you’re neglecting things you need to prepare for so you can be ok and safe in the future, But each moment we trust God and and rest in His now, we are building a good foundation for more peaceful expression and expectation of good in the so-called future.

We can’t find God in past or future, he is only here with us in the continuous NOW. Thank you everyone.

  2. Thanks Evan – how true – I’m always saying that! And as someone said – ‘the future ain’t what it used to be’!

  3. This moment turns into our tomorrow, so thank you Evan for getting this current moment clarified so my tomorrow’s will be blessed with Truth.

  4. As Gods moment it is good and Gods moment must always be mine too! So only good is going on. Thank you Evan.❣️

  5. Evan, thank you for, “Enjoy this moment, it’s a good moment, it’s God’s moment.” It isn’t “my” moment, it’s God’s. It is the personalizing, the idea of a separate me with a separate mind and a life separate from God that can seem to lead us astray. We are His creation, under His control and direction, one with Him in the one Divine Mind. Let’s enjoy and notice the peace in each moment today.

    1. Very helpful Rose! So important to remember the it’s not my future independent from God!! As one with God and his creation, there’s only the continuous expression of unfolding good.!
The one Mind guards, governs, guides. Who could ask for more tha that? Thank Evan for you ongoing joyful ness! We need to cast out at the door of thought every thought that starts with personal senses self claims of what to think and do!
This blog will be sent along to loved ones. Grateful each day for Spiriview and it’s community !

  6. Centered in Him
    Melissa Baker
Does your life seem like it is always falling off
    the page
and your place has more error than good?
Does thought go to matter for joy
    and human reporting sound truer
    than God’s message of love?

Why waste space that is God filled,
and crouch on a make-believe edge
that would let us fall off?

There needs to be a centering … of thought,
a more active understanding of the starting point.

Staying focused on Him, eliminates falling off
    the page
    or out of His kingdom.
    Then … Life/God … becomes our
    center.

  7. Wonderful thoughts, Evan, thank you. And thank you for the lovely poem, Melissa
    and all commenters.
I received this in a daily inspiration which fits right in with the topic and puts our daily challenges
    more in perspective:

Do you remember the things you were worrying about a year ago?
Didn’t you waste a lot of fruitless energy on account of most of them?
Didn’t most of them turn out all right after all?
    ~ Dale Carnegie

    Thinking rightly remedies these challenges.

  8. God is the only life. Spirit is the only substance. Love is the only cause. Harmony is the only law.

    Now is the only time.

These sentences are similar to remarks made in an address on Christian Science by Theodore F. Seward, an Episcopalian (see the Christian Science Sentinel for November 22, 1900 [Volume 3, page 188, first column]).

  9. This was the perfect message for me this morning after much tossing and turning throughout the night. Thought has been anxious about an event coming up— a tribute that I have been involved in the planning of. During the night mortal mind was presenting it’s list of uncertainties about everything coming together harmoniously, and doubts about what I plan to say. This morning’s visit with you Evan was just what I needed! Being reminded that God fills all of our moments, that in the “continuous now” (thank you Rose) God is here, there and everywhere, brings peace of mind.

A joyous and tranquil day to all!

  10. This thought has been of great help to me through the years, going through many moves and changes in my life- “Do what God is guiding you to do today, and this will naturally unfold your tomorrow.” This thought has helped to alleviate many concerns, fears, and confusion about the futures. I have found that turning to divine Mind’s wisdom each moment, we are led to accomplish quite a bit each day, and sometimes we are led to do things we were not planning on doing at all, Then, a day or so later, unforeseen circumstances arise that make me realize the wisdom in doing those unplanned things, and I am grateful I was led to do them. God knows all, He knows the whole picture. That’s why we can trust Him each moment to guide our every thought, step, activity.

I find Hymn 169 very helpful in this regard, here is the first line, I especially lean on the last verse-
“Lead, kindly light, amid the encircling gloom, lead thou me on.
The night is dark, and I am far from home, lead thou me on.
Keep thou my feet- I DO NOT ASK TO SEE THE DISTANT SCENE, ONE STEP ENOUGH FOR ME.”

God gives us just the right thought we need each moment, to be able to take one step at a time. He gives us the desire, the motivation, the
Know how, the strength, the patience, to accomplish His will each moment, each step, each day., We are blessed to know Him as divine Love, as ever present divine Mind, always sending us what we need – as another hymn states-
“ He knows the angels that .you need and sends them to your side, to comfort guard and guide”
    Hallelujah!

    1. Love this DMK. And wonderful comments from everyone. Thank you.

The “future” is a mortal time measurement. It’s a material indicator that wants us to believe that we are separate from God, instead of forever and eternally at one with Him.

  11. Very timely message. God is everywhere all of the
time. God good, guides, guards and governs.
    Thanks for this reminder Evan

  12. Love your healing and helpful Vlogs very much, too. In such refreshing and beautiful surrounding you are in this Vlog again.
How can we else but trust Truth, our Father-Mother God. Thank you very much for this comforting Vlog; I felt much better after I listened to it. Also Mrs. Eddy admonishes us to do so. But you said it so nicely and loving which made me to look forward to God’s day. ♡
