Thank you Evan – this is a helpful thought for me today.
We are made to expect all good from God, our loving Father-Mother, and all that is very, very good, and not mixed with even a little bit of not so good, or a little bad. Pure goodness, is what God is expressing, and we are His expression of pure goodness, which annihilates all that seems to be not so good, or bad. We live in God’s all good creation, so we are embraced in God’s goodness always. “In Ways that are Vain” (Misc.) Mrs. Eddy tells us that good thoughts are an impervious armour….” They prevent any bad thoughts from entering our consciousness when we fill our thoughts with them continually.
And Mrs.Eddy says that “expectation speeds our progress”. So we can expect to know good for
everyone, including all who log onto Spiritview. –
and, of course, for Evan for these wonderful daily lifts..
Josef, there is a lovely poem in the January 9 2023 Sentinel called Expectancy by Suzanne L. Brown. I know you will like it! Maybe someone can post it or the link to it here.
All Reality is Good. Thank you Evan. Also thank you for yesterday’s
SV. I was a sprinter and experienced cramps in track &
football and cou;ld have used your treatment. My understanding of
Christian Science back then was not the best. Today I am at my best
and gaining each day. Thanks to all of you.
Thank you Evan and all. These are all great ideas to hold in thought to keep us from entertaining negative thoughts. I have come to think if I expect a negative outcome I’m taking the name of God in vain. And I don’t want to do that.
My first airplane flight was in a little two seat airplane my boss at the time owned. As we sped down the runway to gain enough speed to take flight, I completely expected the plane would start to rise rather than crash into the fence at the end of the runway. In thinking back on this experience I realized I expected “good” because I knew there were laws of aerodynamics in operation. Similarly, this morning when reading the lesson, it occurred to me there are laws of God, Love, Principle, in operation “preserving” the harmony of God’s idea (effect…you, me, and the entire universe). Knowing this truth that God’s law forever maintains the harmony of God’s idea, how could we ever expect anything but good!
Thank you RobertH. . . your comment this morning filled me with enormous thoughts of HOPE, Referencing the “laws of aerodynamics. . . in operation” takes me back to earlier days when I was a practicing to become a pilot. I love flying, I love operating the plane to go where it can fly, and I respect the laws of aerodynamics, as they govern the operation of guiding me where to take me.Those laws of God, Love, Principle apply and express the harmony of God’s ideas. My gratitude for your comments today.
Yes, I was trying to make the distinction between “wishful thinking” which a lot of people advocate these days and ,”Christian SCIENCE” which helps us realize there are divine laws in operation and all we have to do to see them is realize they exist.
I once read an inspirational quote (don’t remember the source) which said:
“Go around all day with the feeling that something good is about to happen — because it is.”
It’s excellent state of mind to cultivate, and is in line with today’s thought from Evan, expecting good. It opens up our thought, then we begin to look for good and will likely start seeing it everywhere, even in unexpected places.
Your contribution this morning changed my perspective immediately, and brought to thought the words “Today’s the day of God’s direction; pure LOVE will guide us on our way!” My interpretation of how today will unfold, with LOVE, GUIDANCE, and PURE PROTECTION! As always, THANK YOU ROSE! !
Thank you Chilesands for expressing your gratitude so sincerely and I’m glad to know that what I shared was helpful. Your gratitude toward myself and Robert H puts you in the state of mind to experience more to be grateful for.
I also agree with Robert H that the idea of expecting good is not about positive thinking but about understanding the divine laws that are fully in operation that tell us WHY it is spiritually correct to expect good (to expect to see God, good unfolding when we pray aright).
Thank you, Evan! Great reminder when there’s lots of disturbing news piling on us.
And thanks to Nan yesterday for sharing her healings by employing the emphatic “no!” I too have experienced that. When i was busy as a mom with young children and the suggestion of cold or flu were coming at me, i just declared emphatically “i don’t have time for this!” and dismissed the suggestions. The symptoms immediately disappeared. We refute the lie and accept the truth about our true spiritual being, made only good and whole and complete.
The perfect thought for today and every day. Thank you!

How should I respond when expectation does not result in good, peace, harmony, joy, love, etc?
If challenged with a physical problem, expect healing. This thought came to me from your post, Evan.

What a lovely sweet picture of an expectancy of good. I have one very similar of myself about 4 years old. Joy just joy. Thank you dear Evan.
