Experiencing moments of perfection

January 13, 2022 | 25 comments

How often do you glimpse heavenly perfection? It’s a glorious feeling and well worth seeking, for it brings healing into some part of our experience every time.

As Mary Baker Eddy wrote, “Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual, — neither in nor of matter, — and the body will then utter no complaints” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 14).

How does one “Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual?”

One way, momentarily at least, is to drop all material wants, desires, fears, and attachments to matter. These are fascinations of the human mind that resist thought going Spirit-ward. One cannot be clinging to matter and ascending with Spirit at the same time. One mental stance is opposite to the other. To go spiritual, one must run from matter.

To do this, remind yourself that you have everything you need, spiritually, to be completely happy, healthy, whole and complete. You don’t need more money, another place to live, the ear of a sympathizer, more time, a change in the physical body, or anything material at all, in any way, to be spiritual, healthy, happy, whole, and complete. You have everything you need coming directly from God to have the very best that life has to offer. You are whole and perfect in Spirit now!

Let thought soar with Spirit! In Spirit, there is no human need, no physical need, there is no aching and complaining, no fretting or worrying, despair or despond, no disease, threat of death, or looming evil. All is God. God is All, and God is all good! It’s reality! It’s heaven. Just a glimpse of this reality can work profound positive changes in one’s outlook that leads to healing.

One can have these glimpses of spiritual perfection on a regular basis.

When you are conscious of harmonious Life in Spirit, you can’t be conscious of aches and pains in matter. One cancels out the other.

Side with Spirit and soar with reality! Let go of material sense. Ascend in spiritual sense. Know heavenly perfection and thrive!

    1. Thank you Angie. You always seem to have just the right article to support the idea expressed. Perfect, and very much appreciated.

  1. Thanks once more Evan & Angie. I really am glad for this earlier offering this morning.

    1. Hi Lisa,
If you can please look back at the several replies to your post from yesterday regarding your non-profit organization. We would love to know more about your wonderful new endeavor and offer support as we can.

In reading today’s wonderful message from Evan, two things came to mind: 1) that we “are willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8), and 2) Mrs. Eddy’s statement in Misc Writings p. 307, that when we lean on God, never doubting, we have all we need every moment, every second of the continuous now. Thanks and Love to all!

  2. Thank you Evan for this eye opener topic of what’s real and should be cherished by all.

    MULTIPLYING OUR DIVINE TALENTS

“Always turn a human experience into a divine event-that way you
multiply your God given talents.” Marcia H

I was thinking about how some people can speak a couple languages
I took a night class to learn to speak French
It was a one hour class, once a week, with the next class adding new
    words

It didn’t work, there needs to be daily continuity
One reason some can speak a couple languages, is desire, I had desire
But the main reason is, they have no fear of being unable to learn it

Learning to speaking the language of divinity, one hour a week is
insufficient, even one hour a day isn’t enough
To speak the language of divinity, demands a moment by moment
awareness of what we have in consciousness

No one needs to be talentless
Speaking our native language should be on the top of our desire list
“A divine event,” every minute, perfect

    1. Love the analogy! So apt. To learn a language takes daily practice and to really excel, you must practice continual throughout the day. So too, with learning to speak the language of divinity, of love. Thank you Evan and M and everyone for your sharing.

  4. “the fascinations of the human mind”..hmmm yessss! INDEED! and there are so many! Thank you for putting certain things into perspective in this post Evan. One dictionary definition of fascination is , “captivation. spell, trance, enchantment” which gives the impression of being out of control of our thinking and allowing unhelpful distractions to take over and stop us from doing what we should be. I have realised in the least two posts of yours that this is something I need to deal with.

  5. Thank you Evan…what a beautiful , profound treatment today. Our ‘ Daily bread ‘ shared and provided . Divine Love guarding and guiding. Spirit View is a gift for which I am so grateful to be part of.❣️

  6. Wow what a beautiful blast of fresh spiritual air! Thank you Evan! I’ll be saving this to refer back to regularly

  7. Love this joyous morning meal with Viewers of Spirit! M’s analogy of learning and practicing divine speech, as well as Diane W’s further exploration of being alert to NOT having a “fascinated” thought are lovely supplements to our bountiful feast. Thanks to Evan for starting our bread of Life sharing.
    Love to all

  8. This mornings SpiritView is one I find especially instructive and illuminating! Guiding thought to climb the mental heights of Mind, and explore the beauty, sublimity, and dominion of true spiritual being. Thank you Evan for the reminders that the material senses do not represent true substance, and that through recognizing this and countering this evidence, we get clearer glimpses of our divine perfection now. Angie, I so appreciate your devotion to researching articles that are always so on point and inspiring. A blessed and bountiful day to all,- filled with the wonders of Spirit!

  9. Thank you Evan and Angie so much appreciated and just what was needed. I want to share the Interview is the February 2022 Journal so very helpful The Power of persistence by Tim Mitchinson, and Jenny Sawyer it is filled with inspiration.

  10. This topic reminded me of an article written by Rebecca Odegaard. An excerpt: “In prayer we forsake mortal thoughts, imposed on us as though they could be ours, for what Mind knows. Communion with God lifts us to the realm where Love governs completely and perfectly. ….Animal magnetism is the opposite to the peace of spiritual reality. Ruminating allows thought to be mesmerized. That is the very opposite of prayer, which is to open thought to God and listen for and allow inspiring truths of God’s reality to work on us.”
