Finding hope

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him.  Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
~ Apostle Paul, Romans 15:13 NLT

    1. Hi J, thanks for sharing the Alexandre Fischer talk. I always find him very inspiring. My daughter was fortunate to be able to attend one of his lectures in person in California.

Evan thanks for today’s message about confident hope. The word ‘confident’ is key, it’s not an uncertain or worrying hope, it contains expectancy of good and a trust in God as our Source of Joy and Peace.

      1. Hi Rose, How wonderful that your daughter had the opportunity to see Alex Fischer in person. I always find Alex’s lectures very inspiring too. Personally, I feel the ideas presented in Alex’s lectures, and those here by Evan, are really all about pure Truth & Love.

        1. Thanks J for this comment, and I feel likewise!!!
And I listened to Alexe’s talk yesterday evening, and it did me so good as it is very inspiring. Thanks J for sharing this talk!

Dear Evan, thank you very very much for this utmost comforting Bible verse from Romans 15:13. It is very healing – “trust in the Lord with all thine heart …” 🙂

  1. Thank you so much, Evan and J, (and others) for your thoughts and articles. Have not
listened to the talk yet, but the article by Janet Clements if very good. I love where she
writes, “The dear, comforting love of Christ is always with us, and it imparts the healing
conviction of Truth. This frees us, and enables us to prove that ‘all things are possible’ to
those who believe.” I have been trying to download an update to my older computer that
before was working, but now appears to have come across a stumbling block where a
start button is in the shadow and will not respond. Very frustrating. Have decided to
let it rest and as Evan inspires above, “God, the source of hope, will fill you completely
with joy and peace, because [I] trust in him. Then [I] will overflow with confident hope
through the power of the Holy Spirit”.
With God all things are possible. I need to confirm this Truth that all will be well.

  2. This verse was in last week’s lesson sermon, and I looked up hope in Webster’s 1828 dictionary. One definition reads: “the highest degree of well founded expectation of good, as a hope founded on God’s gracious promises.” I love this because our hope is indeed well founded when based on God “with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” (James 1:17) Therefore, hope based on God, divine Love, is constant, dependable, uplifting, not fickle or whimsical, not dependent on person or circumstance.. Have a blessed day, Evan and all, full of hope and spiritual promise.

  3. A poem by a Christian poet, Helen Steiner Rice, comes to mind that I have always
found inspiring throughout the years and gives hope to our humanly journey that
sometimes could use a boost of faith, when we need trust in God:

“Sometimes we come to life’s crossroads
And we view what we think is the end.
But God has a much wider vision
And He knows that it’s only a bend.
The road will go on and get smoother
And after we’ve stopped for a rest,
The path that lies hidden beyond us
Is often the path that is best.
So rest and relax and grow stronger,
Let go and let God share your load
And have faith in a brighter tomorrow
You’ve just come to a bend in the road.”

Joy and Peace is ours and our trust in God’s ever presence is always with us, even
through the seeming challenging times we may face. Finding hope in God is a power
like none other and we are so blessed to be part of this Truth and Love.

    1. Hi dear Angel, thank you very very much for your healing comment, and specially for the inspiring poem by Helen Steiner Rice! That does so absolutely good to me, thanks a lot! 🙂

  4. Thank you for sharing the poem. It’s truly been a blessing to me this morning as I pray for my beloved dog.
