This great!
Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing this!
Awesome! To see true compassion and loving kindness take place in our economy bringing us closer to a sense of real community. We could do more of this, I’m sure. Great example.
We have generally made many choices in our life. I have had several careers since retiring from law enforcement many years ago. Each new working challenge created a different thinking and gave me such a vast experience of what it means to somehow become closer to thanking God to have guided and protected me..
Thanks for sharing this article. Somehow there is always God’s guidance and light at the end of the tunnel.
Thanks, Evan. Such an inspiring video. We need more businesses like this for those coming out of jail.
Your blogs are so enlightening .
All that love brought a huge smile to my face. Thanks for sharing.
If this bakery owner can express such sweet unselfed love for total strangers,
with no (forma;l) knowledge of the truth such as we have in Christian Science, how humbled we
should be…how loving we can be….how much good we can do, in our “personal” worlds…
in our family circles, our friendships, our churches, our communities, and beyond.
I am humbled. May I learn, learn, learn….
There are many good people that no one hears about that gave me a chance to prove myself. My human father for one who had such faith in my ability to succeed in life against the backdrop of the medical profession who told my parents, Joseph and Irene WEISSMAN that because I was born with Ceabral Palsy, I should be put away in an institution and let die in there. My supervisor, Sy Israel who, without a College Degree trained and hired me as a successful Accountant until retirement for 25 years. And last a photographer for the Space Program that was top secret at that time. My Supervisor, Joe A to Z.
Thank you for sharing this, Evan! I love that this company “broke the mold” by creating an open hiring process that provides opportunities for folks like this man. Such a loving thought!
What a moving video and helpful reminder about what it means to support and love our community! At First Church-Seattle, we are exploring the question: “Why be unselfish?” as we prepare for an upcoming series of lectures on the “Healing Power of Unselfishness.” I consider this bakery’s decision to create an open hiring process an act of unselfishness. At a time when many companies conduct background checks which prevent folks with a criminal record from getting a job, this company opened its doors. They have helped to transform lives and their community. It’s Divine Love at work! We’ve linked this post and video to our FB page.
Feel free to check out our FB page for other thoughts about unselfishness:

Thank you..made me cry!!!
Please, everybody, wake up to the potential in this story. It should be repeated everywhere. Think of the wasted talent and abilities that our prison system imposes on our communities. It’s the second greatest tragedy behind child abuse. If we could reach young people BEFORE they enter this downward spiral into law-breaking and drugs we would have the strongest nation on earth – supported with moral convictions and honest labor. While we’re already a strong nation – imagine what we could accomplish!
I’m so sorry the sound didn’t come through for me. But I would like add that we need more companies willing to hire our returning military personnel. My grandson retired after 21 years in the army over a year ago and has yet been able to find gainful employment.
The sound came through with another try and what an inspiring story – thanks, Evan, for sharing this.
Beautiful. Check out the Ted talk by Mike Brady and Dion Drew. Very inspiring.
Thanks for that message, Evan. That kind of information tells us there’s much good going on in many parts of our dear world.
