God has great plans for you

God has the outcome of every event in your life already planned out, and it’s determined to be wholly good!

Now, this might seem preposterous from a material point of view, because God is good and doesn’t know anything about evil. And it sure seems like a lot of evil can happen in the human experience along the way. But I’m talking about life from a higher point of view than when you steer off the road, get yelled at by your boss or fall sick. I’m talking about life from a spiritual point of view.

God is Life. God is wholly good. The outcome of Life in God is wholly good. No exceptions.

The human experience is all headed toward fulfillment of Life in heaven. It’s inevitable that all evil be overcome by good.

Each experience we have on earth serves to some degree to teach us the reality of good, the unreality of evil, to leave the evil behind and to reach out toward more of God’s goodness. The faster we learn the developing lesson, the quicker we progress.

It’s like when I got hit in the eye with a tennis ball going 90 miles per hour. The pain was unbearable and the damage to my eye severe and alarming to say the least. During the experience, I could see no good coming out of it. I wished it had never happened. But it did, and the demand was to master it.

In my prayers, I immediately understood the need to be more alert, and pay closer attention to what I was doing. That was a prayer that has benefited me for years to come in many positive ways. Also, that my vision was spiritual and could not be damaged. That the eye of God’s creating was spiritual, and could never be damaged. The physical healing that resulted was quick and impressive, but even more I gained a much better understanding of indestructible sight that has blessed me many other ways since then. The outcome of the crisis was wholly good. It was God’s plan all along!

God never caused the accident. That was the effect of belief in evil. God caused me to triumph over the accident and the false belief! That was the effect of good.

And so it is with every human experience. There is a valuable moral and spiritual lesson being learned that enables us to triumph over evil. It’s God’s plan that we learn that lesson and benefit from it for all time and eternity.

Expect good in your life! Always expect good. Not every lesson is learned here on earth, but it will be learned one way or the other, eventually. In the meantime, know that good is happening. Keep your mind wide open to what that good is and readily receive it. The pain will pass. The ill will disappear, and you will find yourself closer to heaven than ever before.

God is causing good things to happen in your life today. It’s a planned event!

“All things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

  1. Thank you, Evan. Thank you, thank you…
“I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Psalm 34:1

  2. Thank you, Evan, for these inspiring words. I recently had an experience where my eye had seemed to be injured. My dogs are always welcoming in the morning and ready to start the day with enthusiasm. The one had put her paw right in my eye with great force as she was so happy I was getting up. Mortal mind would have me believe it was tearing and uncomfortable, but I immediately knew there are no accidents. I am so grateful to say, the pain instantly stopped, the tearing stopped and there was nothing there that would impede my happiness or obstruct my vision of the Truth. I am so grateful that when we Know the Truth, the Truth Does set us free!

  3. As of this day, 2/11/2015, I am at the point of testing this out as my understanding of CHRISTIAN SCIENCE unfolds. I am waiting to see and speak to a Lawyer having to do with my health care since I am bedridden. Supposed to be here momentarily. I expect total good out of this meeting. I shall report later on.

    1. Thank you, Evan, I got so much inspiration out of this post and even shared it with others. And, Tobias, I was praying about a meeting with someone, too, and just happened to come across the article “Praying for a humble heart” on JSH online from the Feb 16 Sentinel. How uplifting and refreshing the ideas were. I hope you can enjoy that article, too.

  4. This was truly a wonderful message. I find every day I learn valuable things that answer so many of my questions about life and God. I am very grateful that you are able to share these deep truths with all of us. I truly love waking up each day to your inspiring lessons. Now I receive them on my phone which is also pretty special

  5. I deeply appreciate this morning’s blog. Daily I look for ideas that take me a step higher than I was yesterday in my journey toward seeing the human experience come into line with the divine expression of Life. Your statement “It’s inevitable that all evil be overcome by good” expresses a promise that there is no question that good is all powerful and evil is not….and can remove from human experience whatever appears to be out of sync. I loved the entire blog as well. Looking forward to tomorrow’s blog.

  6. Thank you Evan.
References to our human, earthly experiences, in today’s post,
brings to mind Mrs. Eddy’s admonition – “Earth’s preparatory school must be improved to the utmost.”
S&H 486:9. The paragraph incidentally begins with eye injury.

  7. Had a fall on a sidewalk on vacation last week. I scared my husband and alarmed passersby. I began with the promise of angels catching me that is in Ps 91. Then I immediately got up, with some pain but assuring myself that good was in operation. I was taken to a shoestore at husband’s insistence and got a sturdy pair of walkng shoes! More importantly I became aware of several aging beliefs that have been in the media lately, many focused on falling. I’m working to get rid of any residual fear of an unreal condition, with Truth’s guidance. Thanks, Evan!

  8. Thanks for your message this morning Evan. I have been working from this standpoint for quite some time now, never doubting that God’s plan is at work for me as it is for everyone. While the answers do not seem to be coming right now, I know this is a time of personal spiritual growth. As you stated, “Each experience we have on earth serves to some degree to teach us the reality of good, the unreality of evil, to leave the evil behind and to reach out toward more of God’s goodness. The faster we learn the developing lesson, the quicker we progress.” Expect good at all times. Thanks again Evan.
