Health as a fixed constant

January 23, 2025 | 8 comments

Conventional medical belief teaches that health is a material variable.  Depending upon the state of the physical body, health is either good or bad, or somewhere in between, material observation concludes.

But Jesus Christ taught a higher view of health.  He demonstrated that health is spiritual, coming from divine Mind.  Rise and walk, (John 5:8) he said to the lame man.  And the man got up and walked.  It wasn’t a change in matter that enabled the man to walk.  It was an improved state of mind, which in turn, manifested itself as an improved state of the body that enabled him to walk.  The good effect derived from Spirit.

Jesus proved that health is spiritual.  It comes from a divine source, from God.  It is not lost to material conditions or circumstances but stands on its own.  In Spirit!

The more we understand health from a spiritual point of view, the more fixed it will feel in our everyday experience.

True health is not a material variable.  It’s a fixed constant, permanently built into our being, as spiritual children of God.

    1. Thank you Evan, very illuminating ideas you have shared this morning.
      Thank you for sharing this article Cheryl

    2. Dear Cheryl, thank you very very much for this absolute wonderful article about our perfect, undistructable Health by Ivimy Gwalter. I very much enjoyed listening to this metaphysically very clear article!

      Thanks endlessly , dear Evan for your spiritual views about our true health, God’s quality, everlastingly bestowed on man, God’s lovely expression!♡

  1. The following hymn came immediately to my thought –
    it is so positively scientific and true, and wonderful to
    ponder and accept into thought.

    In Thee, O Spirit true and tender
    I find my life as God’s own child;
    Within Thy light of glorious splendor
    I lose the earth-clouds drear and wild.

    Within Thy love is safe abiding
    From every thought that giveth fear;
    Within Thy truth a perfect chiding,
    Should I forget that Thou art near.

    In Thee I have no pain or sorrow,
    No anxious thought, no load of care.
    Thou art the same, today, tomorrow,
    Thy Love and Truth are everywhere..
    (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 154:1–3)

      1. Yes, dear Uta – this hymn is what I need this morning also – and it corresponds
        with Evan’s wonderful uplifting post, that health is a fixed constant, where it states
        “Within Thy Love is safe abiding from every thought that giveth fear.” We can feel really safe and secure in knowing that we abide in Divine Love always – in His Spirit living
        and moving.

  2. Many thanks for this message today. My CS Teacher once advised me by phone I couldn’t faint because God, Mind, doesn’t faint. I was traveling alone, far from home at the time. With that, I realized what I seemed to be experiencing fit symptoms of dehydration, which I had only once before that. I quickly parked myself next to the complementary water and cranberry juice station Amtrak provided for passengers there in Chicago’s lovely Union Station. Problem solved..

  3. Many, many thanks for this today Evan. What a promise from divine Mind..or maybe I should say constant actuality of being.
    Thank you also to Cheryl for the article and to Maggie for bringing the verses of hymn 154 to us. Sometimes a verse from a hymn has all the inspiration needed for a particular day
    Love and blessings to everyone❣️
