Husbands, love your wives

August 4, 2015 | 12 comments

I love my wife, Kathy. Marriage has been very good for me.

I liked this reminder from the Bible:

“Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly.”

~ Colossians 3:19, NLT

“Husbands, go all out in love for your wives. Don’t take advantage of them.”

~ Colossians 3:19, MSG

  1. What a lovely and sweet post. The picture is so endearing. A loving husband is one of God’s precious gifts and we need to thank Him and be sincerely grateful. I am grateful to God for my caring husband who treats me kindly and supports me always.

  2. So grateful for your loving and supportive marriage which blesses you and the world. Perhaps you could address those of us, young and seniors, who’ve never had that wonderful and longed for partnership. It’s the only area where I feel God has let me down. Thank you for your daily and inspiring messages Evan!

    1. Thanks anonymous. God’s love takes many different forms in people’s lives. It never comes from the “form,” though. For example, from marriage. It comes from above, from divine Love, and then we take what we are receiving from divine Love and share it with others. For many, this “sharing” may translate into a marital agreement that lasts a lifetime, but for others, it may take a different form or type of relationship. But the important part to remember is that the love that makes life a joy in the first place is freely and abundantly available to one and all to live and express everyday. You have it whether you are married or not!

  3. How very sweet! Thank you, Evan! I am a most Happy Single Senior and Love having my Freedom and tons of opportunities to share Love with so many more people because of my not being Married. My most cherished relationship is with God and He/She supplies me with all the Love and Companionship I could ever want or need and then I can share the overflow with others! (Just a view from “the other side”!)

  4. My husband of 55 years passed on last winter. Knowing how much he loved me has been a very sustaining thought. We were truly blessed and had a great family as well. I am very grateful. We both felt that our marriage was ‘God directed.’
The ‘passage on love from I Corinthians 13, particularly Eugene Peterson’s interpretation in the Message, is a great guide. The conclusion is “Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly. And the best of the three is love.”
    Mary Ann

  5. There are many rewards in life for doing so. The quality of my life has increase infinitely with my wife by my side under God’s guidance and support. We both are children of God living out a spiritual, joy filled union. You brought me a warm feeling to start my day, Thanks Evan.

  6. I follow 100% the adage; “For every man, there is a woman.” A woman that reflects 100% the wisdom she gives to her husband, molding him to express God to the fullest. This is true womanhood described by a man, myself, for all happy moments and the wife responds to that respect. What a lie the media teaches that woman are didsy.

  7. Dear Anonymous, you’ve not been let down! “For thy Maker is thine husband;” Isaiah 54:5
And what a wonderful husband he is! Your constant companion, your provider, your protector and you are the love of HIs life! <3 (-:

  8. So wonderfully true, I have a need for this as I am getting older and I seem to sometimes have a short fuse. How the love from her has always been there. The love from me is not expressed enough, a Good Wake Up Call!

    Thanks!

  9. I have always loved my wife, even before we met, 61 years ago. We waited on God for our introduction to one another. “The right way wins the right of way _______ ” MBE- MY 232:6.

    Thank you, Evan.
