Indulge the Christmas spirit

November 30, 2015 | 7 comments

Christmas time is fast approaching, and the temptation to overindulge sensually may feel tempting at times.

The temptation to over shop, over buy, over spend, over eat, over amuse, over fret, and over stress top the list for many. But this can change for the better with a clear spiritual view of what Christmas is all about.

Christmas is not about eating and shopping, stressing and worrying. Christmas is about celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ and living true to the message of divine Love he brought to humanity.

Jesus showed us the way to eternal life through love. And we faithfully follow when we love in return.

So, feel free to indulge in love this Christmas season! Even try to over-indulge, if you want. It won’t happen, for the more you love, the more you are blessed.

You won’t gain any extra weight. You won’t burden your bank account. You won’t stress out. But you will find profound peace. And that makes the real meaning of Christmas worth celebrating.

  1. What a wonderful way to start the season, Evan! I love the idea of overindulging in love! Bless those who overindulge in love this Christmas for they will find the true meaning of the season. Evan’s declaration of blessing (other wise known as a beatitude!). 🙂

  2. Thank you so much, Evan, for stating so clearly the true meaning of the Christmas celebration! It’s about celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ and living his message of God’s Love for us, by letting this Love grow in our Hearts – sharing and expressing it with others!

  3. Christmas is all about healing and healing without having to go through pain, isn’t it. That is just what this upcoming holiday is supposed to celebrate. How it is celebrated now is a joke, a sick one at that. This idea came to me this morning when the Laboratory came to my home to take blood from my finger to send to my a Doctor in order to cure me. Of what, I have been asking myself for the past 6 years since I became bedridden. It causes pain to stick my finger and vacume blood out of it as if blood says anything about man’s reflection of God. Why is pain involved in any so-cure that materia medica is involved in? CHRISTIAN SCIENCE is not involved in pains where healing is concerned. It has nothing to do with the Christmas spirit.

  4. Thank you for this beautiful reminder Evan! when the foundation of any activity is love, it is always a Pleasant peaceful expirience. Stess is a big hurtle at my house it seems, amd also missing my sister. This year we are blessed to be able to have not only my sister, but her husband with us for the whole month of December, well at least up until Christmas eve. This year, my goal is overindulge in live and gratitude! It certainly worked to have a wonderful stress free Thanksgiving, and I bet it will work woth Christmas too :)!.

  5. Love the challenge to try over-indulging in love this Christmas! Welcoming two sweet closely-bonded “senior” dogs from the shelter this week and looking forward to lots of hugs and licks, and fun in the snow!

  6. Thanks for the invitation to over indulge this Christmas. I plan to over indulge with joy and love as I spend my first Christmas in many years with all of my family.
