Keep ego out of the way for happier relationships

If you’d like to build happier relationships with family members and neighbors, kick out ego! And by ego, I’m talking about the self-righteousness of the human mind.

The human ego would be a god unto itself, believing its opinions are most right, its point of view should dominate, its directions should be heeded, and what it thinks is most true. When the human ego reigns, discord and conflict usually follow in its path. Its motto is, “Who shall be the greatest?” And its indulgence can lead to alienation and isolation.

Reflecting divine Love is the wiser route!

Divine Love is considerate of others, kind, generous, thoughtful, caring, open-minded and patient. Divine Love does not take a stubborn, close minded position that is offensive to those it embraces. Divine Love builds bridges, opens doors and works to bring many together into one. Divine Love has a good influence on all those it touches.

Divine Love is the Ego of God. It is the one Mind that all humanity has in common. You are divinely designed to reflect the one Ego, and when you let the one Ego speak through you, your conversations and interactions with others will always be at their best and have the best effect possible.

People love to be loved by the one Ego. They typically don’t care to be assaulted by the human ego.

So, leave the human ego home today and let the one Ego go before you as you go out and interact with others. Let others feel the love of God through every word you share, let others feel the presence of God through every thought you rest upon them. Let divine Love dominate your consciousness and form your opinions and conclusions. Be Love in action. That’s the one Ego expressed! The effect on others will be positive.

  1. Thanks Evan, exactly what I needed to hear today. It also is a timely message for students and teachers beginning a new school year.

  2. This piece about the ego versus Divine Love rings true. The human ego is a burden but Divine Love is light and truth.

  3. Boy, do I need this! Human ego (opinion, human will, ugh) or Ego, divine Mind’s calm and steady guidance and messages–I pray to let the divine Ego, divine Mind, reign in my comings and goings today. Love this, Evan, thank you!

  4. Mary Baker Eddy tells us that we must love, to
    understand God, our divine Principle.

Concord Express has 1052 references for this word, “love” in our textbooks.

There clearly is no other way.

So, if we are not loving, we are not…being.

Divine Love is, after all, ALL.

    Thank you for loving, Evan.

    Hi again,

I just found this article on JSH-online. Wonderful!!

    :<)))

  6. Thank you for your words of wisdom. I have been trying to let go of hurt feelings over something that a person said to me. I can see now it was only my ego reacting and I can let go and love them back.

    1. Dear Tressa – the way that you are putting Evan’s wonderful instruction into practice really helps me! When we feel we are the one being “assaulted by a human ego” – we can feel very justified – and think it is the other person that needs to be fixed. But you point out so well, that only yet another ego, not the one Ego we all “are divinely designed to reflect,” could react and feel hurt. So put it off, and love! Boy! that helps me tons! I am so grateful for this blog!!!
