  1. Not many words today Evan but oh boy they just open up a wealth of spiritual awareness!
I love this hymn by Violet Hay…who was my Mother’s teacher incidentally.
From sense to Soul my pathway leads before me,
From mist and shadow into Truths clear day,
The dawn of all things real is breaking o’er me
My heart is singing; I have found my way.
Thankyou Evan for inspiring our prayers every day.❣️

  2. Thanks Evan for sharing. Every word a gem. How often do we wish to see certain good situations and yet don’t KNOW it. Thanks Barbara for the reference to the hymn (no:64) I have always so loved this song. How blessed we all are…. Are you Knowing it too?

  3. Wonderful Evan, thank you!

Thank you Barbara, one of my favourite hymns too and how wonderful for your mum to have Violet Hay as her teacher ❤

A couple of weeks ago someone here mentioned Pierre Pradervand’s book “The Gentle Art of Blessing” and, another person in the same thread, endorsed it. I bought it on Kindle and have found the book to be a beautiful further insight into Love.

Next read will be Julian of Norwich

So grateful for your inspired blog Evan and to all the commenters.

    1. Dear Shelagh,
So glad you’re enjoying Pierre’s book. He was a journalist w the CSM for many yrs. Giving out mental blessings on a regular basis to those you pass on the street, as well as friends and family, can become the normal way one sees. It’s a beautiful way to live life!
That’s also cool that you’ll be reading some of Julian of Norwich’s writings. A highlight from my last trip to England was my brother in law driving me to Norwich to visit Julian’s church and the adjoining “cell” she lived in as an anchoress. She was so tuned into the Christ!! Blessed reading!!

    2. The Gentle Art of Blessing is a wonderful book! I have read it three times and given it to several friends. Enjoy❣️

    3. I feel sure that Pierre Pradervand was a Christian Scientist, At least he has some publications in the CSPS literature.

  4. That’s really challenging today Evan. Need to get my mind around that but sure hidden depths there.

  5. “O’er earth’s troubled angry sea (see), I see Christ
    walk.”

“What went ye out for to see?” Matthew 11:8

  6. Many thanks Evan for this inspiring and very much needed message today, greatly appreciated. Thank you Barbara for reminding me of this beautiful hymn.

    1. C T, “CONTROL THOUGHT,” was proven this morning. Daily I drive my son to an essential job, but today, he exclaimed he’d forgotten his “key”, a requirement by this business. A fee is owed if the worker arrives without the key. We circled back home, yet as I ‘saw’ the way clearly, he arrived to work at the correct time. Had to hold to the thought “Oh gentle presence, peace and joy and power, O Life divine that owns each waiting hour…” traffic was navigated, and the freeway we enter toward the end of the trip was clear for safe and easy movement to the service road, as we arrived at the plant. On bended knee, I am grateful.

  7. Also what is known is shown. We don’t have to wait. The truth, power and beauty in these lines from our hymnal:

    To earth’s remotest border
    His mighty power is known;
    In beauty, grandeur, order
    His handiwork is shown.

Note the emphasis on IS know, IS shown. Now.

    1. TY for including “to earth’s remotest border…” as I learned this week that India and China are continuing to maintain an unmarked border in the Himalayas to this day, where recently a battle was fought there. I am alerted that this issue continues to beg our prayers.

  8. Thank you, Evan! This is perfect for me today! From Sense to Soul is one of my favorite hymns also. I sing it almost every day. It’s nice to have the reference to its origin. Thank you.

  9. I love checking back later in the day for all that have added their comments. I get so much good from everyone’s comments as well as Evan’s original direction of ideas that help each one focus their thought. Thank you & God bless!!!

  10. Violet Hay! Wrote Hymn 64 & another favorite #136! From the UK as well, Barbara. She organized the First Church of London at Mrs. Eddy’s asking. Then went on to Johannesburg, South Africa to organize there, too. Her first name was Caroline. Caroline Violet Spiller Hay. Married when 38 to a navel officer she met in South Africa. A student of Mrs. Eddy herself. Wrote other poems as well as our beloved hymns.
I found her on Google, it included a 2 minute and 45 second recording of her incredible voice.
    An inspiring presence still today.
Great teaching is going on daily. I decided to read the whole chapter on Recapitulation in one reading. Studying it as it is the basic first edition of Science and Health, published in 1870. And is the basis of class instruction. I’m a slow reader and if I find my mind wondering off the subject, I reread the paragraph again. It took me three and one half hours to read it without stopping. Thirty five pages. Thus the continuity of the entire chapter may hit home. Sure to study it again and again till the whole is assimilated. Near my God to Thee, Nearer to Three!
Thank you all for this inspiring sharing today!

    1. Thank you for taking the time to give further background concerning Violet Hay David. My mother was truly blessed to have a teacher with whom Mrs Eddy had so much contact. You can imagine how enthusiastic she was ( my mother ) when Association came round ! I find that repeat reading of any part of Mrs Eddys writings is never without seeing or understanding something I missed before. The plus side of lockdown…more study time❣️

  11. Thank you again Evan. I am a late evening reader of SpiritView. I love reading everyone comments. What a powerful statement today! And Thank you M for the sentence from Mrs. Eddy’s hymn “O’er earth’s troubled angry sea (see), I see Christ walk.” A reminder that we do need to see the Christ in our walks and when and how we see others.

“What went ye out for to see?” Matthew 11:8

  12. Oh thank you Evan! I do know what I want to see, namely the Truth that makes us free, as Christ Jesus promisses us. “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Isn’t that one of the most important longing worthwhile. To know the Truth means for me also, to know God and His image and likeness better. Lol to all!
