I flew over to the UK last Tuesday for a week of lecturing in the Liverpool region of England. Kathy, my wife, came along with me, and we are having a grand time.
Thursday night I lectured for 3rd Church, Liverpool, and what a success! The talk was held at Costa Coffee on Bold Street in downtown Liverpool. It was a fun venue to speak in! It was a very public, very accessible and a very friendly place to be.
By 7 p.m., the time to start, the room was packed. Standing room only. Five people stood in the entry well because there was no more room to sit, and without moving hardly a decimeter, stood there attentively for 80 minutes while I spoke about finding spiritual abundance. Passer-bys on the sidewalk outside pressed their faces against the window wondering what the big event was going on inside. Some gentleman wandering by beforehand came in and asked, “What’s going on?” They stayed to listen and took copies of Science and Health when they left.
Newcomers asked questions during the lecture. “What did I think about pharmaceuticals? How do you pray for a friend or neighbor in need? What is the relation between Christ, Jesus and me?”
Happy faces were everywhere. Smiles were easy to find. Children and teenagers of different ages bounced up to greet me afterward. It was difficult to clear the place out by 9 p.m., closing time.
It was a fruitful evening, indeed. Thought moved. False beliefs were dispelled. Hope was found once again. People left inspired, including myself.
On to the next city and next lecture…
How lovely to share your wonderful event! Look forward to hearing about more!
We definitely need more lectures of this type – it certainly showed that people are searching for answers and love public venues. Vicki
That’s beautiful and inspiring! Have a wonderful lecture tour in the UK!
Whether they admit it or not, people worldwide intuitively thirst for spiritual Truths. Your lectures, Evan, are not just particularly effective in bringing the truths of Christian metaphysics to the eager ear, you unfailingly impart the hope, and the true practicality and benefit to our lives of “right apprehension of Him.”
So wonderful you are now bringing the CS message over there.
I wish I had known you’d be there, I would have made the trip from Brussels!
I was there and it was as special as Evan says! Some walking in off the street, Others just starting to learn of CS who were making a journey from their home at night that they haven’t done for some years. And even the cafe staff listened keenly. Great to be a part of it
Ditto KenA!
