Living without perceived need

“…I don’t have a sense of needing anything personally. I’ve learned by now to be quite content whatever my circumstances. I’m just as happy with little as with much, with much as with little. I’ve found the recipe for being happy whether full or hungry, hands full or hands empty. Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am.”

~ Apostle Paul, Philippians 4:11-13, The Message

  1. Thanks Evan for this very lovely message. Satisfaction and contentment in our life come, by knowing and understanding that whatever challenges may come our way, we need not worry, because our Creator, our Father Mother God, meets our every need. He created us, so He is responsible for us and will sustain us under any and every circumstances. This unflinching trust in God, is true prayer. This prayer enables us to joyfully accept the rough and smooth paths of life without getting disturbed, anxious or troubled. It helps us maintain balance, equanimity and tranquillity in our life.
“He who joyfully leaves everything in God’s hands, will see Gods hands in everything.”

  2. Thank you Evan for your lovely and profound blog of today. Yes, we can be grateful that we learn and can practise in Christian Science that we are blessed and cared for by our loving Father-Mother God in aboundance.

  4. Love it! Sounds a bit like Byron Katie, but never thought about it that way before. Or perhaps she sounds a bit like Paul. 🙂

  5. “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” How often I have used this saying of Paul’s from the Bible. Truly it IS the Christ, the knowing of God’s Presence within and without me at all times, that gives me the strength to do whatever it is I need to do each day. So grateful that Paul, through his understanding of Jesus and the Christ, was able to spread the message of Christianity and that we have this understanding to use for Healing today in our application of Christian Science!

  6. Thank you Evan for bringing this simple, powerful message to our attention.
Away from personal to complete and total reliance on God….Hard to believe we can do this, yet, the truth is , we do this whether we know it or not, however, to bring this fundamental Truth into full realization within our consciousness certainly brings peace, Love, Joy into our daily experience of life…..I am feeling so much gratitude for the wisdom being bestowed upon us all
this morning…my heart feels open.. I feel Gods goodness pouring out of us…we have forgotten ourself ….so Gods Love and wisdom now shines thru…as always… but now we are aware of it…and this makes all the difference….

  7. This is a wonderful reminder for us, Evan, to be content with what we have. The Apostle Paul reminded Christians that we had nothing at all tangibly when we came into this world, and its for sure we’re not going to be taking anything out with us when we pass on, so having food and raiment, be content. (1 Tim 6:6-9). Way to go!

  8. Thanks to all. Yes, God is All-in-all, and we can trust in His care. This carries over into trusting in Him to do any work we need to do. I think of Job 23:14 “For He performeth the thing that is appointed for me…” In “The Message:” “He’ll complete in detail what he’s decided about me.” God does the work. We need to let go of “self” and reflect Him. This is my goal, to trust Him completely in all aspects of my life.

  9. Thanks You God, as God’s Child we already have the Allness of God reflected in our lives through the Christ Message of Good in our human consciousness from moment to moment. Knowing this Fact of Truth is so assuring and produce the effect of true contentment and satisfaction in God’s complete care of our being that we truly can trust Creativity to have complete freedom to express wonders in those details we cherish plus even more. Ever so grateful to know this in small to phenomena . Thanks Evan for reminding us We are minded in God.
