Love that is welcomed

April 27, 2018 | 17 comments

“Let your love be like the misty rains, coming softly, but flooding the river.”

~ Malagasy Proverb

Love is not pushy, overbearing, willful or anxious. It is gentle, thoughtful and peaceful, just like the presence of God, which is the source of it.

  1. What a beautiful picture proverb which I have never heard before and thank you for your lovely comments Evan. I love the quality of gentleness and wish I could express it more! This reminded me of a line I love from hymn 23 “Thou gentle beam of living Love”. I seem to have a busy day ahead and this message this morning has helped me to feel calm. Thank you so much for being so on the ball with your messages!

  2. Lovely, Evan! There are many times when I need to be more gentle, thoughtful, and peaceful,
I shall endeavour to remember this.

This proverbreminds of the Shakespeare lines:
“The quality of mercy is not strained,
It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven.”

  3. “The way to extract error from mortal mind is to pour in truth through flood-tides of Love. Christian perfection is won on no other basis.”
Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 201:17-18, Mary Baker Eddy)

Gentle but strong, flood-tides of Love! Blessings all for a beautiful weekend!

  4. Hey! What timing! Only 5 mins ago I was choosing readings for church and was looking at I Corinthians 13…all about Love is patient : Love is kind…etc I feel as if I am on track now! Thankyou Evan…always so relevant ;-D

  5. This is Beautiful, Evan! Thank YOu! The trick is to always acknowledge God as the Source of the Love I feel and express, eh? It is thru Prayer and Meditation that I can experience this constant contact with God, Love.

  6. Your 2 sentences speak volumes. Love is soft and gentle. It is not pushy or overbearing , or willful. It doesn’t demand to have its own way. It is unselfish. Love is not a jellyfish but is strong as steel! Like the river it is very powerful !

  7. If all is Spirit
    All originates
    in Mind…
    One Will
    One Life
    Goodness fixed
    by Principle
    expressed as
    the Law of Love…
    The result
    is present
    presently in
    the now

    We are new creatures
    in a new universe
    Sighted and True

    1. The words “One Will, One Life, Goodness fixed by Principle” reverberated in me and spoke Truth which I had been seeking for a problem. Thank you for expressing Mind’s thoughts so eloquently.

  8. Dear Evan, the picture so beautifully expresses visually the words of the proverb! I’m grateful for all of the comments also. This IS the day the Lord hath made and I am giving thanks.

  9. Thank you Evan for this sweet and gentle message. When I’m caregiving for my sweet CS patients I’m always talking to God asking Him if I can please earn my ‘Gentleness badge’, just like the Boy Scouts. I try to be so gentle and careful with them in all my movements. It’s such a delight to be that loving. A wonderful day to all!

    1. Thanks for your good works!

I am guessing you’re a Christian Science nurse, or possibly a practitioner. In either case, thanks for the image of a “gentleness badge!”

  10. Thank you Evan for that Proverb and your thoughts to it; such a heavenly picture of God`s lovely nature!

“Tenderness accompanies all power which Spirit bestows.” I love this sentence from SH by MBE.

Today I was so lovingly and tenderly and securely lead to the place I needed to drive. I was quite excited as there was a diversion of traffic because repairing the street. I came through long streets I did not know at all. Then the following convincing thoughts came to me: allknowing God is on my driver`s seat, He knows exactly the way, He will lead, and I totally turned the driving fully trusting over to God. I got peaceful and calm, and now I noticed how beautiful these long roads are as they lead right through a green wood. Then I came to a corner from where I knew the rest of the way to my goal. Through these prayerful thoughts I always turned to the right direction when I came to a corner I did not know yet. – thank you God for leading me safely and lovingly –

    1. Wow Uta, I felt like I was right there in the car with you. What a lovely ride we had to your destination. Thank you for that beautiful ride!
