Maintain your inner peace

Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset.

  1. In this turbulent world this is such sound advice to start the second half of the year. Peace and love be with us all as we celebrate USA independence.

  2. 40 years ago I threw my watch away as I was always terribly stressed about being late and continually watching the clock, worrying I’d be late for work at every traffic light and giving myself headaches all week. One day my Christian Science mum said to me “What will happen if you are late?” I had to admit probably nothing and that I would work back a bit to make the time up. She also reminded me that God is already everywhere before I even get there and with me every moment so He will always have me in my right place. Checking my watch won’t change a thing, but checking my thinking changed EVERYTHING! I became calmer, happier and no more or less late than before.
I simply did my best to be where I should be and God did the rest. I still don’t wear a watch and not once has it even mattered on the odd accasion I have been late.

    1. Three years ago I cancelled my satellite TV and the next year I ditched my Blackberry and i-phone (Yes I was a dual user!!) and haven’t missed a thing. My watch is still around here – somewhere… and friends tell me staying away from social media hasn’t cost me “friends” or any significant “news”.

          1. Hi Maximo, thank you

here it is 8.30 pm – it depends where you live, I suppose you have about noon – have you a nice day! 🙂

      1. I live near Santa Cruz Ca…
70 miles south of San Francisco

12:00 noon… cool clear day by the
        mountains and sea

        1. How wonderful, Maximo 🙂 I have a friend, who was a CS nurse, and lives now in Azusa, think that is also California.

  3. Very true. Being calm and collected saves much time and stress. “HASTE MAKES WASTES”.
If we are in a hurry we tend to lose our cool, get angry, annoyed thereby landing up in a worse situation. Many a times we get angry on innocent ones and our spiritual graph goes down, our stress levels go up. Nothing gained at all.
Whenever I am late I pray with “Father you are in control of my time. I know there are no delays in your Kingdom. Time is measured by the unfoldment of good.” This brings peace and serenity to the tensed situation and things go smoothly

  4. My wise older sister ;> once told me, and I think of it often , “When we rush, we lose our sense of God.” So true!

  5. The words “calm trust” came to me—“Let neither fear nor doubt overshadow your clear sense and calm trust, that the recognition of life harmonious-as Life eternally is-can destroy any painful sense of, or belief in, that which Life is not.” (S&H p. 495) We need that calm trust; then we won’t give in to a belief in any kind of pressure.

  6. What I make clear to me, when I seem to be late is, “as a child of God I am always at the right time in the right place and doing the right things”. That is so clear to me that I immediately calm down and let God lead the way.

Thank you, Evan for that important quote – what a cool picture 🙂

  7. Makes me think of the motto ‘Keep calm and carry on’. Thanks Evan for the reminder.

  8. Thanks to Diane and Patty. Diane you have given us inspiration by doing away with your watch, thereby expressing dominion over time and no more being a slave to it. Because “time” is no part of eternity and we live in the eternal now.
Patty congrats to you… You cancelled your Satellite TV and gave up your blackberry and
i-phone.. What a high level of devotion indeed to give up anything that comes in the way or your spiritual progress. Truly hats off to you. I would love to be friends with you and Patty.
Warm regards and lots of love to both of you.

  9. My mantra lately has been “haste make waste”. It has been a very busy summer and I’ve needed to remind my self frequently to slow down. So the counsel you shared to “Never be in a hurry” was a welcome command! Thank you! (=
