Murals that bring spiritual light to heavy hearts

December 6, 2016 | 14 comments

Some of you are familiar with Alex Cook’s murals. He’s been busy painting his colorful messages in prisons, and here’s a well-done video that shows a recent work. I think you’ll like what he has to say about what inspires him to do this work.

  1. Thank you Evan – I remember, that you once had such a SpiritView about mural paintings like these – was it also Alex Cook? What a pity that we can`t buy posters for our reading room window, only the flyers and the cards.

  2. that was lovely. under all the pain and misunderstanding there is that light in all of us that knows that this is true, not just a nice thought. I had to ask myself, can I love myself? the answer was shaky and I was surprised. We are always learning.

  3. Beautiful, the men and women in these institutions, like all of us, are precious expressions of their dear creator, Father Mother Love. Thanks so much for sharing.

  4. Thank you, Evan, for sharing this beautiful idea and video with the larger community! So grateful to all who put this together. And for, what I’ve heard, the lovely fruitage coming out of it.

  5. How inspirational, simple and effective! Beautiful! In such few words, a feeling of truly being loved is expressed. Thank you for sharing that, Evan.

  6. YOU ARE LOVED. Who doesn’t want and need to hear or see this reassurance!

I’ve had this bumper sticker (by Alex) on my car for some time now. It is my hope (and affirmation) that this simple reminder from Divine Love (which is how I view it) uplifts the mental atmosphere in the town I live in.

Evan, thank you for publishing this video about Alex Cook and his work!

Think how LOVED we all are !!!

    GOD IS LOVE.

  7. Wow! How Excellent! Thank you for sharing this with us, Evan! And a Big Thanks to Alex and Sandy! This fits so perfectly with our C.S. Bible Lesson – Golden Text: “…O man greatly beloved, fear not:” Daniel 10:19. We are told over and over that God Loves us or that we are Loved…..and yet, if that Love hasn’t been shown to us as babies or as very young children, it can truly be a challenge to believe and take into our Hearts the Love of God. It’s up to us to Love our fellow man with the Christ-Love that God puts in our Hearts and thus help to awaken that long-dormant sense of being Loved by God. Perhaps that is our Real Purpose here on Earth….? I think this is the Christmas Message that Jesus brought to Earth! Glory Be to God!

  8. I love Spiritview. It’s message daily makes me feel loved …by you, by all those other people who read your blog, and–of course–by God.
Words become feelings. I am so grateful I have LOVE in my life.

  9. Thank you so much, Evan! What a powerful testament to the simplicity and truth sharing God’s love!

As a former public school teacher I always found a way to teach every class
(K-8) this simple five finger prayer:
I am loved, I am loving, I am loveabke, I am wanted,I am needed. I still get notes from some that when they feel unloved or unkind they think these thoughts and feel more loved and loving.

  10. As we walk through the human experience we have an ever opportunity to make powerful statements which connects us to the truth of existence, fundamental to eternal principle and this person has not missed his opportunity. Very beautiful idea which much fruitage. Thanks Evan.

  11. Such an important message….we should paint it everywhere…., every city, country, just everywhere…:)
    Thank you for this post….

  12. Wow, so cool. Also, “you are ‘very good'” because God made you that way, as explained in Genesis 1:31. That’s where you innate value comes from.

  13. These words to a beautiful contemporary Christian song by Chris Tomlin come to mind:

    “You’re a good good Father
It’s who you are, it’s who you are, it’s who you are
    And I’m loved by you
    It’s who I am, it’s who I am, it’s who I am”

To know that we are loved of God is the dearest gift of all. Thank you Alex, you are sharing your gift of art and love with all the world’s hungering hearts.
