Perfection and reality

April 12, 2023 | 17 comments

Perfection underlies reality. Without perfection nothing is wholly real.

~ Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 353

If something isn’t perfect, it has a temporal shelf life. That which is perfect lasts forever.

Perfection is reality, and reality is perfection.

  1. Thank you!
    Absolutely perfect.
A visual that shows the perfection of reflection.

To begin my day with this thought and visual is a gift that I am grateful for.
It helps me understand the importance of reflection and my duty to God.

    1. Thank you for sharing this poem – it really brings out the idea Evan gave.
Thank you, Evan, for reminding us of perfect reality we reflect.

  2. Evan says, “Perfection is reality, and reality is perfection.” I think if I were to ponder just that one statement deeply enough it would reveal the whole truth of the universe.

Reminds me of the Sentinel Watch podcast with Deborah Heubsch that I listened to last night, it was outstanding, about the effects of experiencing awe. She mentioned how important it is to take the time to really look deeply into reality. Here is the link:

Blessed day of seeing perfect reality to everyone.

  3. Thank you Evan. A perfect view of man corrects and brings harmony where there is discord.
I once found myself in a very tense atmosphere where a relation with whom we were living together, was always cursing. I learnt I could be happy if I see her perfect with the understanding, that it is her true identity and that, that is how God sees her. Holding unto this thought I felt a peace within me that non of her cursings had power on me. Besides, that she became sober through the years and such moments came up occasionally and no longer as frequently as they had been.
One day I approached her while she was in her cursing mode; seeing her perfect, hymn 412 came to me and I sang it, in my thought, as I stood infront of her.

O dreamer, leave thy dreams for joy-ful waking.. o captive rise and sing, for thou art free.

At the word “free” she became normal and calm as if something had left her. That was the end of her
unwarranted nagging. There was relative calm at home..

    1. This is an outstanding “demo,” because it is so easy to become irritated at the irritated one. Thank you for sharing.

  4. How Truly Lovely the inspiration is today! It really can be
summed up as Awesome. From the beautiful photo, to the
lovely poem, to the Sentinel Watch audio of wonderful thoughts.
    Perfect!
“And as on wings of faith we soar and worship,
Held by God’s love above the shadows dim,
Hushed in the grandeur of a heart’s awakening,
Unfolds a joy un-known till found in Him” [God’s Love] (from Hymn 149)
The summit of One Mind takes us to the awesome top of the mountain
where angel thoughts help to see God’s reflection everywhere.
