Pour healing truth into thought

February 3, 2023 | 23 comments

The moral and spiritual facts of health, whispered into thought, produce very direct and marked effects on the body.

~ Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 370

When you fill a dank room with fresh air, everyone breathing in that room knows the difference. It feels and smells better!

The same rule applies to consciousness. When enlightening spiritual truth is poured into thought, the thinker of those thoughts feels the difference. They feel better. Perhaps, even healed of a burdensome belief or fear.

Never underestimate the good effect of moral and spiritual thinking poured into consciousness. It can be done silently, as a mental whisper, but its effect can be pronounced, like the roar of a lion.

  1. S&H p. 201: “The way to extract error from mortal mind is to pour in truth through flood-tides of Love.”

I love the idea of spiritual facts being whispered softly into thought, yet having powerful effects. Contrast that with the loud, repeated mortal mind messages we hear from the world, yet they amount to a noisy, powerless nothing.
“…as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.” (1 Corinthians 13:1)
“…full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” (Shakespeare- Macbeth)

    1. Thank Evan, and thank you Rose.
Yes, my first thought too, on reading tidays SV, was Mrs Eddy’s flood-tides of Love.
Also, in this week’s Lesson, the Golden Text, from Galatians, “. . . if you plant in the field of the Spirit, from the Spirit you will gather the harvest of eternal life.” for Spirit we can also say Truth, Love, Mind etc and from there, peace, joy, happiness ♡
      An abundance of good!

  2. So helpful!
I sit, read, and study in a brightly lit corner with a great view of my neighborhood. One particular house seems very dark. The diagnosis and neighbors comments all point to an impossible situation regarding mental health. Just yesterday I was trying to think how I could be helpful, bring a little light, or healing into that situation. But the darkness of collective moral thought seems impenetrable and I couldn’t imagine how my one thought could be helpful or bring any light into the house. – what? Am I not a student of Christian science? Wake up! Divine love, God, is in that home! Love outshines, inshines, and dispels darkness. I will open the door of my thinking and let in the fresh air of divine life, health, and harmony. The burdensome sense of fear left. Later, with an elevated concept of neighbor and neighborhood, I went for a walk and held onto this Truth for each home I passed.
What a joy to wake up this morning, and see this affirming post!

    1. Wonderful Fawn!
Such a blessing for your dear neighbour, and your neighbourhood.
Your acknowledgement of the healing already present, ensures it will be seen ♡

    2. Thank you so much for sharing these good insights, Fawn and Evan. Not only are they valid for our neighbors, but for the entire world. Divine Love is omnipresent–in our home, our neighbor’s home and the rest of the homes in the universe.

This reminds me of the Rule for Motives and Acts in the Mother Church Manual. A Rule for Motives and Acts.  Section 1.  … The members of this Church should daily watch and pray to be delivered from all evil, from prophesying, judging, condemning, counseling, influencing or being influenced erroneously.
      (Man. 40:4 (only), 11)

It is so easy to judge and be influenced erroneously if we are not watching and praying for protection.

  3. Thank you Evan and everyone. It’s made me think today that I should be concentrating more of how I hold others in thought as much or maybe more than I do for myself. A lesson here I believe. Love to all.

  4. Thank you all for a wonderful wake-up call. Lets begin the day rightly. Seeing our neighbor as ourselves heals what we are thinking and what heals all around us and gives us hope that all is well. What a richness in this site and all who participate. The morning breakfast feeds us all the day long.

  5. I have heard the saying, “TRUTH is like a lion. You don’t need to defend it. Just
let it loose and it will defend itself”. Our thoughts of Truth are powerful and felt
in ways we may never know. How wonderful is that!

Fawn, Hymn #109 randomly opened up this morning and I thought it might
    be helpful to you:

“Here, O God, Thy healing presence
Lifts our thoughts from self and sin,
Fills with light their hidden places,
When Thy love is welcomed in.
    Here Thy tender sweet persuasions
Turn us home to heavenly ways,
    While our hearts, unsealed, adoring,
Pour the fragrance of Thy praise.
    Reverent lives unveil Thy beauty,
    Faithful witness bear of Thee:
    Binding up the broken-hearted,
    We reflect Thy radiancy.
    So may deeper consecration
Show Thee forth in healing’s sign,
    Till thorough joyful self surrender
We in Love’s pure likeness shine.”

  6. So thankful for today’s Spirit View message and all the wonderful reply’s. Very encouraging. Love to all.

  7. How incredibly grateful I am for ALL the above this AM. Filling my consciousness with divine love and gratitude for the helpful
thoughts above are much needed this AM. An important
family relationship needs a lift and thanks to all for the uplifting
thoughts expressed. …Disappointment and exasperation are
slowly giving way to knowing that only God is in control. Every
loving thought expressed above will help and guide me to
think with God where no hurt or exasperation ever resides.
Great gratitude is sent to all above!

  8. Thank you Evan, I love this! Love what each of you have shared. It’s so true how just a whisper of a truthful thought can have such a great impact!

  9. Thank you all my gratitude for these healing messages today. My cup is filling up and over as I pour in the healing truths from today. Much love and joy!

  10. Hymn #529

    Love divine, Your healing presence
Lifts us to the holy place,
Where we see Your whole creation
Filled with light and crowned with grace.
We Your children know Your glory,
    See your power from above
Sweep away the shade of darkness
With the healing tide of love.

    Humble hearts accept Your blessing,
Turn from sorrow, want, and sin,
Turn the page, rewrite that story,
As the Christ is welcomed in.
Now we know our true relation,
    Perfect God and perfect child,
We can live in joy and freedom,
    Loved, and pure, and undefiled.
