Pray with confidence

Are you praying with confidence? If not, you can!

Confidence is about what you trust.

If you trust in God, your prayers will be filled with great confidence, hope and positive outlook.

If you trust in evil, your prayers may feel weak and hopeless, lacking and in vain, for there is nothing in evil to give one hope.

We always trust something. Be sure to trust in what brings help and healing. Trust in God! Have no trust in evil.

Mary Baker Eddy wrote, “The confidence inspired by Science lies in the fact that Truth is real and error is unreal”
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 368).

You pray with confidence when you honestly pray to God.

Don’t pray to evil. Pray to God! Confidence that brings healing will be yours.

  1. How beautiful to know that day by day we build confidence by witnessing God’s care in our lives.. We can each keep a record of God’s care in our hearts so when we need that special trust it is there.

  2. So grateful,to have the knowledge Christian Science gives us of how to understand and express the Christ in our lives with such certainty. Unselfed Love brings its infinite rewards.

..’So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.
You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised…’Heb 10. V 35/36

Grateful thanks for so many healing thoughts Evan. This blog helps enlarge my small spiritual understanding steps become strides of confidence in Truth.❣️

  3. I have been praying about life, peace and the world. And then feeling overwhelmed. And last night I started my prayers with gratitude for all that I have and have had, and my prayers were calmed and not everywhere. I had a good restful sleep. I again can pray with confidence! Thank you so much for such a timely blog.

  4. Touché! Thanks!

Science and Health With Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, the chapter 17, Glossary, p. 579, “Abraham”:

“ Fidelity; Faith in the divine Life and in the eternal Principle of being.
This patriarch illustrated the purpose of Love to create trust in good, and showed the life-preserving power of spiritual understanding.“

  5. This reminded me of “lead me to the rock that is higher than I.”

    Psalm 61
“1 Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.
2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
3 For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.
4 I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.
5 For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.
6 Thou wilt prolong the king’s life: and his years as many generations.
7 He shall abide before God for ever: O prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him.
8 So will I sing praise unto thy name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows.”

    1. There’s a wonderful Sentinel article that relates to this. Perhaps someone else can find it and bring it forth.

      Thanks to Evan and all.

  6. What a great and thought-provoking statement ..to pray to God rather than to evil! Its a good point that when we are not trusting that good will come to pass, then really we are focussing on and “praying to” that expected bad outcome. “As a man thinketh , so is he”

  7. Thanks so much to all. This is just what I needed and will be holding onto. What I have been praying with is “Trust in the Lord will all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.”

    1. Thank you Lori, this verse is one of my very favorites. It encompasses a lot in a few lines.

It’s like what Evan said, that we are always trusting something. Let’s make sure we’re trusting God/Truth and not secretly fearing or trusting in error. The verse says, “lean not unto thine own understanding.” Often error tries to masquerade as my own thinking, it can be sly and tricky, this is something I need to really look out for and discern. There is no “my own understanding,” just one all-good, divine Mind to “direct our paths.”
