If you want to know the truth about any given situation, be sure to consult spiritual sense for the facts.
Spiritual sense is your direct link to Truth, to God, the sum and substance of all that is real and reliable.
There is a common temptation among humans to consult material sense, rather than spiritual sense, when deciding on a course of action. This can lead to unhappy consequences because material sense has a very limited sense of what is possible.
For instance, material sense may see disease and decide that it is real and true. This is unfortunate, because that mind then treats the disease as if it is real and true. And the effect is often to build it up rather than tear it down. And then human logic is running in the background arguing, “How does one get rid of something that is real and true? It can’t!” it often decides. And this leaves one feeling like they can’t be healed.
But spiritual sense observes the opposite of material sense. Where material sense sees disease, spiritual sense finds health. Spiritual sense sees beyond the evidence of the material senses to one’s reality with God in Spirit. And what spiritual sense sees as true in Spirit, corrects what appears to be real in matter. Healing happens.
So, be wise about what senses you consult for the facts.
Mary Baker Eddy writes, “Material sense does not unfold the facts of existence; but spiritual sense lifts human consciousness into eternal Truth” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 95).
For healing, you need Truth—healing empowering Truth! Spiritual sense gets you there!
Thank you, thank you Evan. Just what I needed to hear to today!! Wonderful start to morning prayers for myself and all mankind!! Everyone thank you for all your comments you share. This is a joyous place to be
I am so grateful for all the SpiritView treatments and inspiration, Evan. But this one hits smack dab at the resistance mortal mind would attempt to keep us mesmerized with. Thank you for keeping the reader on the straight and narrow and providing us with the truth that brings about healing.
Thank you Evan, so needed today and shared with a friend about SV messages of love and support.
Already this morning I saw 2 things fall beautifully into place. Now, after reading SpiritView, a third. Just what I needed. Thank you so much, Evan.
Thank you Evan. Material sense can be disappointing and unreliable –
a part-time contentment, if you will. When most needed, it can seem
vague, limited, frustrating, even abandoning of what we love and cherish.
But spiritual sense is always there for us, supportive in making decisions,
in being comforting, encouraging, sustaining and perfect contentment,
regardless what challenges we may seem to be faced with or what we
may seem to be going through. Thank God, literally, for knowing about
and being able to rely on spiritual sense.
To begin rightly is to end rightly.
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 262:28 (only))
excellent
Just what I needed Thanks so very much
Thank you very much, dear Evan for reminding us to use our spiritual sense, which is very important for our spiritual progress.
Just this Morning , before I read this wonderful SpiritView I found a CS pamphlet published in 1994 by The CS Publishing Society title “Safty Assured.”
And the first paragraph says this: “Safty an Spiritualty are related. In fact, according to Christian teaching , our safty is in proportion to our Spirituality. The more truly spiritual-minded we are the safer we are in our earthly experience.”
And in Science and Health we read on p. 505:20-25: “spiritual sense is the discernment of spiritual good. Spiritual understanding unfolds Mind. – Life, Truth, and Love, – and demonstrates the divine sense, giving the spiritual proof of the universe in Christian Science.”
Wow, all this shows us the importance of our spiritual sense for safty and real health in our life, and how good it is, to rely on our spiritual sense.
And thank you Evan, for this wonderful passage from SH p.94 you give us up here! Thank you, your SV is so very much appreciated as well as all the lovely comments! ❤️
Thank you Uta. I found the “Safety Assured” pamphlet on JSH Online but I can’t share the entire pamphlet. But here is a link to the lead article:

Thank you Evan! I love posts like you made today where you illustrate the correct approach to thinking from the standpoint of Christian Science. Please remember this when reading what I wrote below. LOL!
In the past I’ve often been confused by what Christian Scientists share because it can seem that they sometimes speak in contradictions. For example, suppose I said “Ghosts aren’t real!” Then suppose later I say “People think that house is haunted but don’t let the ghosts in that house scare you!” You be confused and wonder whether I really believe ghosts aren’t real or whether I just believe you shouldn’t let ghosts scare you. The term “material sense” in Christian Science is like that. Material sense is kind of like the tooth fairy. It’s something Christian Scientists sometimes talk about like it’s real, but it isn’t actually real.
For example, Mrs. Eddy wrote the following (see page 485 of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures):
“Material sense is an absurd phrase, for matter has no sensation. Science declares that Mind, not matter, sees, hears, feels, speaks. Whatever contradicts this statement is the false sense, which ever betrays mortals into sickness, sin, and death.”
Recently I started frequently replacing the word “sense” with “perspective” when reading S&H and other CS literature and that has helped me keep straight that material sense isn’t something real. It’s just a “perspective” on reality that people can have, but it can be replaced by a spiritual “perspective”. In other words, it helps me understand that it’s just a “thought exercise” or “reasoning”. For example, if I take the quote from S&H that Evan shared and change the words “sense” to “perspective” it would read like this:
“Material [perspective] does not unfold the facts of existence; but spiritual [perspective] lifts human consciousness into eternal Truth”.
Using this in the quote above from S&H on page 485 yields this:
“Science declares that Mind, not matter, sees, hears, feels, speaks. Whatever contradicts this statement is the false [perspective], which ever betrays mortals into sickness, sin, and death.”
“Viewpoint” or “way of thinking” are other words I sometimes substitute for “sense” too.
“Material [viewpoint/way of thinking] does not unfold the facts of existence; but spiritual [viewpoint/way of thinking] lifts human consciousness into eternal Truth”.
Anyway, just thought I’d share this in case it is helpful to others like it’s been to me. This was in no way intended to be critical of what Evan shared today…just perhaps a “tip” to help you get more meaning out of what Evan shared today.
Thank you RobertH for sharing your thoughts – very helpful!
That’s really good. Robin – it shines an even clearer “ perspective “ on that excellent SV gift from Evan . Thank you all —
Very helpful. Thanks for sharing.
Wow Evan, this is such a great message today!
It reminds me of a profound article I read in a December 2019 Sentinel that so changed my thought process I’ve never forgotten it! [Link provided]

Thank you very much indeed for the link to this very inspiring and helpful article, Carrie K. !
I listened to the article, and I must listen to it a second time and more concentrated; it’s so good with the wonderfully inspiring testimonies therein!
Very insightful article, thank you Carrie K – pnw.
I’ve just read that article ( twice ) and shared it with some friends . The analogy referred to is really excellent- it defines very clearly how animal magnetism can deceive us . It reminded me of a really good article/talk by Daniel L Jenson CSB called ‘ The Illusiin of Animal Magnetism” .he cites several examples of how individuals were mesmerised into believing a lie which appeared very real at the time – and how they saw through the deception and were immediately free . I have tried to find Mr Jenson’s article/addresses on JSonline .without success . He must have a history on the site as he is a teacher and well known
Thank you very much RobertH for your interesting and inspiring comment on “spiritual sense”.
I find it really interesting , how you substitute the word “sense” with the expressions “perspective”, “viewpoint or “way of thinking” !
Robert, your comment is very helpful, thanks a lot!
All of the comments are so appreciated and inspiring, as well as Evan’s original
message. Thank you All!
