If you ever slip and fall, below is a metaphysical action you can take to get back on your feet, prevent harm, and quickly move on.
“When an accident happens, you think or exclaim, “I am hurt!” Your thought is more powerful than your words, more powerful than the accident itself, to make the injury real.
“Now reverse the process. Declare that you are not hurt and understand the reason why, and you will find the ensuing good effects to be in exact proportion to your disbelief in physics, and your fidelity to divine metaphysics, confidence in God as All, which the Scriptures declare Him to be” Science and Health, p. 397.
Thank you Evan Mehlenbacher.
I am in my eighth decade of life. A few months ago, I was cleaning my bedroom with
my daughter who was visiting me. I picked up a heavy wooden drawer filled with papers.
As I moved forward, I tripped after getting my foot caught. I started falling, and as I did,
I declared out loud, ” we know I am all right,” twice. And I was! We continue our work.
The next day I looked down at my knee and saw a bruise.. immediately it started to hurt.
I said to myself,”Oh, no, you are not going to listen to error.” I firmly corrected my
thought that an accident had never occurred, and that was the end of it.
I am so grateful to be student of Christian Science. Never give it up,
Thank you for your Testimony, how marvellous
Thank you Evan, that reminds me when I fell with my bike and became unconscious. I awoke in the hospital. But I could go soon, as there where no injuries. When I told it to my CS teacher he asked me “where was God at that moment?”. That opened my eyes and I said, yes, God was there already and he portected me.
When I read the sentence from the above S&H p. 397 “Declare that you ar not hurt and understand the reason why…” the simple Truth comes to my mind “because I am fully protected by God, Spirit, who is ever with us”.
Am always grateful for Christian Science which teaches us all these immensly wonderful devine Truths! 😉
Thank you for the reminder. I had a situation this weekend that was not an accident but something that would have been awful and would have stopped the program I was running. I prayed out loud in the control room who was in charge, that only good has power, proverbs, the kitchen sink! And we got through it and the trouble stopped. It was a simple thing and certainly not life threatening but I needed to know that God is an ever present help and to turn to God first, that only good/God is the reality. Years ago and for a moment that day I thought I needed to work it humanly and then turn to God. I also had to discipline myself that day to not check but keep praying. This was hard for me as I had an audience of people and a pianist following the film to be concerned about. I did feel that lovely assurance as I prayed and knew we would be all right however it turned out.
Good Morning Evan and All!
Good reminder re “accidents.” No such word in God’s vocabulary, huh.
I’ve been working on refusing to separate myself from God’s allness.
God and His ideas are inseparable, period. This would include me, a so-called
“Human,” for there is nothing outside illimitable divinity, no matter what human sense says.
This being so, “accidents” are excluded from the realm of God’s allness, hence are illusion, unreal.
A stretch for human thought?
God is the Only Mind!
All you beautiful souls awakening
from winters deep self reflection
now to bloom in springtimes
warm glow of Gods radiant Son
the new seeds of realization
of our oneness with Her allness
and of the unbroken, eternal connection
of Loves Mind and protection
Dec 27, 1999, hit black ice started to spin out of control I immediately stated “God is My Life”, I ended sideways pinned in my car. Good Samaritans cut the seat belt off me and got me out. I immediately said I AM OK. A very compassionate person said, “You may think you are OK, but you may experience problems”, well 1 week later I started to get back spasms. I was scared and accepted that thought. went to the emergency room and had x-rays, no problems and after waiting in the room for over 3 hours I started to feel well again. there never really were problems only what my thought took in. As a bonus to this healing of not “falling out of God’s Grace” two days later I gave up drinking alcohol for good!! Now that was a healing that I will never forget!! p.s. the accident of me hitting black ice was NOT due to drinking, just to be clear!!
I have proved this truth many times. Declaring out loud, knowing “There are no accidents in Divine Mind” or firmly stating No! when something surprises you will cement the Truth.
One instance comes to mind. I inadvertently set a cold Pyrex
container on an electric burner that I had recently used and the container exploded into a million pieces all over the kitchen. I was standing by the stove and was completely unharmed and began sweeping up the glass. I still was finding glass months later and each time was a gentle reminder of God’s loving protection. Thanks Evan for this reminder straight from our leader.
Thank you Evan for this powerful, short reminder from Science & Health. Declaring “God knows no accidents” at the beginning of an accident has brought about a completely different outcome on several occasions. One that stands out was several years ago while hand watering in the backyard of my new townhouse. At the bottom of the steps from the deck were pavers covering a good portion of the backyard, with one step down about 6′ from bottom of deck step. My home of 30 years had no steps in backyard. Backing up while watering one area I forgot about that step. With hose in hand up in air along with other arm/hand and in mid-fall to land on pavers back of head first – and in a position that I could not humanly have gotten out of- I could only say “God, no accidents.” The next instant I was chest high in the bushes next to the bottom deck step. A big “thank you Father” at that time and wonder at His power. So grateful.
Thank you, Evan and everyone’s replies., You all inspired me to do some research and study on this subject. I found a quote from S&H that I think contributes to today’s discussion. Please see below.
“When the condition is present which you say induces disease, whether it be air, exercise, heredity, contagion, or accident, then perform your office as porter and shut out these unhealthy thoughts and fears. Exclude from mortal mind the offending errors; then the body cannot suffer from them” (SH 392:27-32).

I appreciate all these reminders. Our words are very powerful .
I’ve experienced so many instantaneous healings from applying the truths regarding accidents for myself and my children. Our daily study also gives us mental armor that protects us. One of the instances mentioned above reminded me of what, to me, was an awesome demonstration of that protection. I reached for a platter on an upper shelf in my kitchen, when suddenly a 9×13 inch Pyrex dish flew out of the cupboard, hitting the door on its way out and then hitting my microwave oven to my left. Huge shards of glass, some like daggers, lay all around me, but not one hit me. I was totally in awe, and full of gratitude to our Father! I do have a question, though: what if we seem to have been in an accident, and metaphysical work was done and improvement made, but there still seems to be a remnant left? Must we see clearly that there never was an accident, and that there can be no result from something that never happened in reality?
My Goodness! Our Father-Mother knows exactly what we need! I’m deeply grateful to open my e-mail and find this fresh morsel of bread. I just returned from the hospital. The false belief is that my grandmother had fallen this evening which resulted in an injury. When could she possibly fall out of Heaven? Never. The kingdom of heaven is within her. The whole kingdom. Nothing has power to alter the expression of Truth, Life, Love, Spirit, Mind, Soul, and Principle.
